If he was flipping Vs at the wales fan next to him I would have the utmost respect.

I'm not convinced by the Wales fan next to him, looks far too happy (or Starmer is just celebrating at random)
The expression of the Wales fan in Sunak's photo looks more realistic:
Disappointed Sunak didn't go with the England shirt over his shirt look though.

I actually quite like the picture, but I think it must be staged to some degree. The rest of the bar isn't celebrating with the gusto of Starmer et al, and the Welsh scarf guy is too happy (because he's not really Welsh presumably, more indicative of happy Welsh swing voters that Labour need).

I reckon they’re both cheering Bale getting subbed.
-
• #3281
I'm surprised that politicians are advised to cheer either side when the home nations play each other. Possibly the only justified moment for a half-and-half scarf.

Due to a small child rampaging around I hadn't fully paid attention to the first half and had just assumed that Bale was on the bench given I hadn't seen him on the pitch. Was a bit surprised when he was then subbed.

He can't really win in this situation, for example I'd prefer no picture personally. The World Cup goes on, but we don't have to excessively celebrate it this time around given the issues around it. I suppose the value of a "he's just like us" picture means they decided to do it regardless. Would have more respect for Sunak if it pictured him in the opulence his extreme wealth affords. Eating caviar in his home cinema etc. /humbug
Also, any picture of these guys is staged and controlled to some degree I imagine.

The World Cup will have been on the Big Guns agenda/whiteboard for months.

I always assumed these were bad faith Tory trolls, but maybe there is a faction of the Left that think like this.

3,5,7 and 10 are reasonable points. The rest is delusional

3,5,7 and 10 are reasonable points.
I can understand why some people rightly or wrongly thnk those are his position now, but given that they come from a place of strategy to beat the Tories, why do you think that he would take those policy positions after winning an election?

Just to add, if Yougov is to be believed (and there are worse pollsters out there), a significant majority of the public do not agree with striking or protest action. Only 25% of polled people think that striking is an effective and reasonable method of achieving goals for example.
Note that a majority of people support the goals of Just Stop Oil, but a majority also opposes their methods. From memory its about 58% support their goals but 65% oppose their methods.
Do you think Starmer should spend the run up to that election telling those people they are wrong, or should he basically stter clear of those subjects as much as possible to not put them off voting Labour?
-
• #3291
I mean, if Starmer becomes Prime Minister and takes an anti protest position I'll be in the protest with a placard in my hand.
-
• #3292
Also just because the sun is the kind of rag you shouldn't wrap your chips in, doesn't mean he shouldn't use them to engage with voters to try and win an election.
Using them as press is different to fawning over Murdoch.

To chuck my 2p in, I think it's also important to recognise what a totally fucked position the UK is in right now.
There can be all sorts of things on your wish list, but you've got to start with the important things first. And there isn't much value in talking about all the other stuff.
There's obviously enough research out there to convince his team that focusing on the economy is the best strategy.
It's interesting to compare and contrast with JC's manifesto. Which as good as it was, came across at worst as the moon on a stick, but even at best as too many ideas all at once.

31,000,000 people read the Sun at least once per month. One of the key characteristics of Sun readers is that they are unlikely to vote in elections. In 2017 Yougov reckoned 52% of Sun readers did not vote. Of those that did vote, 59% voted conservative.
To me, it seems like quite an important medium for Labour to target. There probably isn't a better way to reach people who don't vote.
I wonder if its possible to see which papers the are most popular in the red wall?

Can't see Nadine on the decks. Maybe Therese Coffey drops a bit of deep trance from time to time.

Such mixed feelings here. Love that she’s genuinely into it and it’s not staged bullshit like it would be with Starmer / Sunak / Johnson / all the other cunts. But Ntrance?

(Secretly I’d also love to eat chemicals with Gove, cuddle him for hours, change his mind about all the bad stuff)
That's well hipster. Half a Radler please!
