  • That looks ace. If you do get a hankering for something lighter/alloy i've heard good things about the Forme Calver SL if you can get past the slightly dull appearance.

  • Thanks mate!

Yeah I've spotted a few of these on various sites, they seem okay...though if going alu again I'm going to hold out for a Niner RLT9, should not have sold it..

  • Looks good. How come you didn't go gumwall? Would have blended nice with that bartape.

  • Bigger tyres was a good move.

  • Its all I had in the shed.

I want to go black tape soon for a reason I cant tell you yet....so will keep black wall in the future.

  • It really did change how it feels...

  • A lovely set of black Kooka disc hubs turned up today, 374g for the pair! Very happy with that.

Which I am building onto a set of tubeless roval rims that weigh 426g a rim with DB sapim spokes...

Should turn out not that heavy!

Let's see if I can build wheels still.

  • Pics of the hubs plz

  • They're just Simple nice made black hubs. Nothing too special or wildly colourful like most Kooka stuff.

And for anyone who cares, they were built with plain guage spokes in the end and came up at 1643 grams...could drop some weight with nicer spokes one day.

Which I don't think is too bad for a pair of hubs that cost me 40 of ebay and free rims (salvaged from a pair of wheels of a specialized xc bike) and free spokes.

Eventually I want the front built up with a TA Dynamo hub, so may re do spokes then.

  • Nice, light and low-key.

  • Silver > black spokes when you re-do imo

  • Rode the full 15 mile loop of cannock chase today and it was awesome..

Seeing people's faces when I pass them on climbs / descents on a 30 year old single speed provided countless joy! (both for them me)

This bike is super capable on the trails, would have liked an easier gear for some of the climbs (currently 36/18) and a lock out fork!

    Overall 10/10 ride and bike..

  • That’s a very nice SS groupset

  • I've lost the upper parts to my hope headset somehow so Im going to need to order a new one!

In the mean time... I put the rigid forks back on for the local trails.

    Lovely bike to be honest..

  • Yeaaah that's good! Looks really fun.

  • Supercool what are the bars please?

  • Blb big smoke 25.4 :)

  • Very strange, tried to install the gxp cranks and bb today and came up a confusion.

The previous gxp bb and rival cranks (same gen) didn't need bb spacers but this set up needs 1mm spacer in order for the crank axle to fully slide through.

Without the 1mm spacer there is loads of play...

Also I can't run the chain ring and the guard as the 44t fowls the chainstay, so I'll have to order a 42t 130bcd ring or use the shimano 7700 cranks I have sitting around.
