This is me as well! Without this thread there is no way on earth I would have started drawing. Some really inspirational stuff on here and drawing is incredibly relaxing.

Agree 100% with this.. great to share doodles with like minded fokes, I definitely wouldn't have been doodling as much without it..

That's amazing.. some amount of detail and work has been put into it..

This is fantastic, especially at 16.
Real understanding of the medium they are using, and demonstration of observation. Clearly a very good eye. -

Tried to give the painting some more "depth". Need to fill some empty spaces and than start the -for me- most difficult part: the head.

I’m considering having a go at oil painting. Other than;
Brushes
Paint
Linseed oilWhat do I need? I’ve no clue. Do I need to prep the canvas with glecee or whatever it’s called or go straight on?

Rabbit skin glue mixed with titanium pigment is an option for priming. There are other methods but it's easier to buy pre prepared in the size you want or rolls of pre prepared canvas.

Prep the canvas with Gesso (chalk) primer. Some canvas say they're prepped but my experience is that this isn't always of good quality. Put a couple of layers on it and you'll be fine. Without it, there is always the possibility the canvas absorbs paint more than you want it to. This results in dull looking paintings.

Wouldn't worry about the head. Reminds me a bit of Turner. My favourites of his only have some details, they are even rougher, but they convey emotion of the situation. The details become secondary to the colours and surfaces.

There's this guy who does very abstract figures and faces you may or may not want to use him for inspiration:

Art day on Sunday.
Made a device, then did a couple of prints. Much prefer the orange one to the green.

Orange is nice, indeed. 👍

Both great but I prefer the green 💚

I’m going to attempt an oil painting. Once I’ve primed the canvas how do I mark the lines on the canvas.
I’ve been advised pencil will alter the paint.

Traditionally dry crumbly charcoal is used. But you can under paint with thinned light colour too.

Won’t charcoal affect the paint just in the same way pencil would?
100% what art club is about. Brilliant
