  • Loving these paintings

  • Nice really like the highlights and red belt ๐Ÿ‘Œ

  • Never really used oils so I've no advice. Looking forward to seeing the progress though

  • Been mucking about with doodles again.
It's a good way to relax and turn the brain off.

  • Wow. The detail in that is amazing

  • Thanks guys. Been working on some details. Now have to wait a couple of days for the Paint to dry so I can finish the head.

@AWu-Tang, that's amazing. It would 've made Escher jealous. ๐Ÿ™‚

  • This is lovely.

  • Thanks, @Rich_G . I never really tried oil pastels before but in fact they're a cheap (8,5 โ‚ฌ for a box of 24) and easy way (as in: no brushes to clean) for colour combination experiments. I'll probably use the design as a basis for an oil painting in larger format.

  • I really like oil pastels they are good fun. If that was a 1st try you need to do more as it great ๐Ÿ‘.

  • Quick sketch

  • These are really really nice.

Ive not used pastels since school!

  • Thanks, guys.

  • I donโ€™t really animate characters much, but Iโ€™ve been drawing some of these little guys recently and thought Iโ€™d make a shifty walk-cycle with on

  • The textures and tones are just real nice. I would love to paint, but cant paint that well and don't have the patience for it really. This seems like a middle ground as they don't look too dissimilar to Oil paints??

  • Love this sandcastles one.

  • I used dry pastels once (a couple of years ago I followed an initiation lesson drawing and painting) and I didn't like the look of the result. Too "dry". I more like the shiny look of oil paintings. Oil pastels are really nice for smaller works and you don't have the mess you usually have when using oil paint (cleaning brushes takes longer than the time I usually paint), you don't have to wait for the paint to dry and you have a similar result. Oil pastels don't mix that well, but I use a bit of linseed oil and cotton wad and that works. I love the pasty look of the oil pastel drawings as that's what I like most in oil paintings as well. In a next phase I'm going to try to upscale these drawings to oil paintings (with hopefully a similar -pasty- result).
