Been mucking about with doodles again.
It's a good way to relax and turn the brain off.

I donโt really animate characters much, but Iโve been drawing some of these little guys recently and thought Iโd make a shifty walk-cycle with on

The textures and tones are just real nice. I would love to paint, but cant paint that well and don't have the patience for it really. This seems like a middle ground as they don't look too dissimilar to Oil paints??

I used dry pastels once (a couple of years ago I followed an initiation lesson drawing and painting) and I didn't like the look of the result. Too "dry". I more like the shiny look of oil paintings. Oil pastels are really nice for smaller works and you don't have the mess you usually have when using oil paint (cleaning brushes takes longer than the time I usually paint), you don't have to wait for the paint to dry and you have a similar result. Oil pastels don't mix that well, but I use a bit of linseed oil and cotton wad and that works. I love the pasty look of the oil pastel drawings as that's what I like most in oil paintings as well. In a next phase I'm going to try to upscale these drawings to oil paintings (with hopefully a similar -pasty- result).
Think I was in a different colour mood yesterday.
