  • This must be a trick question..

  • I was exercising my balls a lot before the missus also started working from home.

  • You don't have to be hammered during the meeting. I mean, do you lot never have office beers or anything?

  • You don't have to be hammered during the meeting. I mean, do you lot never have office beers or anything?

Not with the current mob - quite dry they are

  • Fuck, we're a bunch of alcos. Also, webcams? Not a chance

  • nowp, they used to serve alcohol in the company restaurant but they had to stop. Wonder why :')

  • Those WeWork offices with the beer taps... they'd be drunk dry in minutes if they put us lot in them.

  • Haven’t WFHd for over a decade now and yesterday (day 2) was a bit of a struggle. We have a time code from work for setting up at home. I think I’m going to lean on it a bit to set up a bench in the spare room so I’ve got somewhere isolated to work. It’s not working splitting between using the dining table and spare bed. That utopia of working in bed in my pants wore off quite quickly.

I’m splitting childcare duties with OH (both work full time) and we’re taking it in turns 2 hours on, 2 hours off.

  • Do the Belgian ones also have beer taps? I should investigate. People at my job are boring though so I don't even go out for drinks with them. Maybe once or twice a year.

  • Dunno. I've never actually been in one, just heard from other people who use them.

  • Lunch Break aka Turbo Time

  • really glad I got work to fork out for a wacom tablet for me to use instead of a mouse.
Makes producing keynote documents way easier..

  • I just expect it to autopause so it doesn't matter how quick I answer. They're only internal though so people just have to suck it up.

  • Probably a Windows limitation - not being able to control another apps audio output. To be fair, I'd want to keep Teams the fuck out of any of my other apps features too :)

  • Anyone else finding that their tried and trusted conference services fail due to system overload?
We just had to abandon a GoToMeeting call due to capacity issues.
Will instead be communicating with smoke signals and bits of string for the rest of the meeting.

  • .

  • Oh god I'd forgotten all about GoToMeeting, what a piece of crap

  • What are the cool kids using these days?

  • i wish people would pick up a fucking phone

new client emails: hello fizzy one of my colleagues recommended you form a previous role. can you do this job for us? shall we get on the phone to discuss
me: yes sure, i'm free between now and 4
client: ok, can you do 2 o'clock?
    me: yes
new client: sends meeting invitation with teams link
client: i have sent a meeting invitation and a teams link...

  • I've had more video calls this week than I have in my whole life.

  • Finally felt like I had a decent run at things today after 2 days of false starts. Tried remoting in via a virtual desktop VPN, then setting up programmes locally on laptop and desktop. All felt frustrating. Finally caved and bought the big boy computer home and all is well. Bit concerned about electricity usage if I'm rendering a lot so have bought one of those energy monitor plugs to keep an eye on things, would be good info to know the cost and I might be able to claim it back once all this blows over.

Going to have to keep an eye on routine, only managed to get back on the yoga today.

  • 3 days wfh. firefighting, floundering chaos. it's funny because I wfh quite a lot anyway, but it was the entire organisation switching over to remote working, having to set up Teams, help people who had never used their institutional login etc. hoping it settles down.

    Teams question!
I made a team, and then I either edited the name or maybe I deleted it and made a different one, so now on SharePoint there is an orphaned sharepoint thing for the non-existent Team. Can I safely delete it from Sharepoint?

Also - Whiteboard looks kinda fun for annotating over things but doesn't work in browser. Is it worth downloading the desktop app?

  • Felt like I spent most of the week getting angry with Webex not working

Not seen anyone mention it but when I work from home I'm a fan of getting up like normal but then go for a walk in what would be my normal commute time at the start of the day, makes it feel less bed to desk

  • 1st checks everyday, microphone and webcam turned off/ covered over.

  • Work has acquired laptops for WFH, they are ready today. I feel a bit weird about going to get one and leave my little corner of the world. But it would be really useful...
