Thanks for all the supportive comments. He wasn't in any pain and his passing was made as good as it possibly could have been by incredibly caring and patient hospital staff, despite all the pressure they're under. They let his daughter and two sons sit with him and play music to him (Beres Hammond, Luciano and Dennis Brown in the early hours in King's ICU) for as long as they wanted before turning the equipment off. Then they let them wash and change him, before removing all the tubes. In the middle of a crisis, this level of humanity is so, so important and I know how much difference it has made to my partner today in terms of the memories she will have of her father.

That could be COVID or the looming threat of Brexit. I have a few friends from other EU countries who left the UK after living there most of their adult lives, often with UK born partners but it was because of Brexit and covid just sped it up.

Well, ffs. Teams meeting today and covidiot moaning about how awful the traffic on the M25 was yesterday. On his way to two in-person meetings, in a car, all totally unnecessary. WAC and in light of the awful news on this page, utterly infuriating.

There isn’t much detail on the Brazilian Variant of concern, which seems odd given the response it’s created.
Working backwards the concern must be fairly significant but presumably yet to be fully confirmed...? -

Vaccination ramping up significantly this week, my hospital got an all staff email and SMS inviting us to book from Sunday whilst has been frontline staff only being invited up till now. New joint site at Crick Institute with >1000 slots a day from Monday.
