My Bundesland will have a full lockdown again starting next Monday. Will last a month, I'm hoping it will be the last one. Plans of going home for Christmas were iffy already, but I really don't see it happening now. Worst part about that is that our dogs are getting really old and this might have been my last chance to see them.

second person to be vaxxed
After the tens of thousands that were part of the clinical trials.
I don't know why the media in this country is so obsessed with individuals like this. I look forward to their appearances on daytime TV shows, charity Christmas single and the like in the future.

Propaganda. And I’m not saying this in a bad (Nazi/USSR) way. Showing viewers a pathway to a brighter post COVID future. Oh. And get vaccinated people it’s normal and look even these real old people are happy to have it done.

because seeing old folks with novelty names getting yoinked in the arm in the name of not dying in a global pandemic is british af and sends out a hugely positive message.

Son-1 has had 2 of these 10 days apart so reasonably hopeful that he is clear. Unless he catches it on the train home.
Daughter-1 has fewer than half her classmates in currently and the neighbouring school has just closed for physical lessons due to an outbreak.
Not sure we're quite in the clear yet. -

Presents a good chance to unify/secularise the calendar year. They can keep BC and 2020 years of AD, and we can start fresh from Jan 01 CE (common era hasn’t caught on anyway), PC, AC, whatever you want to call it.

I didn't think it could get any worse, but now people are being described as heroes, seemingly just for having the fucking vaccine. WTAF? My piss is getting thoroughly boiled at the moment*

Team WhatsApp group at work. 7 people on it, 3 of whom have declared they won’t be taking any available vaccine, and 1 who hasn’t declared it but I know definitely won’t from previous conversations. Top stuff.

Is the idea that in a situation where keeping students at Uni was not appropriate/possible (politically, socially etc) catching 50% of positives does help, and by doing this early possibly prevents a week or two of transmission which would increase cases several fold prior to returns home?
