There's a difference between NHS alerts and Google/apple alerts

That's the info I needed, thanks.
When you open the app it will tell you that you need to self-isolate.

Actually, has anyone looked at "COVID-19 exposure notifications" in their Android settings? If I go to "Exposure checks" I have nothing since 25 September. I'm a bit curious if the app is working for me.
Edit: I changed batter settings for it (allowing it to run in the background) previously but that did nothing. Just saw that there's also "Battery Optimization" which is allowed to shut down the app. I've now turned that off as well. Will see if there's any change.
Edit 2: No updates for a couple of hours. Rebooted my phone and it pushed thousands(!) on start up. I also got the warning that I had been near someone, but nothing in the NHS app. Hopefully the app updates properly now. Others may want to take a look and see if they're having a similar issue. Not very useful if it doesn't actually send/receive data.

I had exactly the same this morning?
Having read that link, does that mean that Google determined I had been in contact with somebody but the NHS app filtered it as being either a false alarm or not enough contact to be of concern?

not enough contact to be of concern
that's my interpretation

I got 8 days left of self isolating after putting down a cough in the app (went to get tested too on Friday, surprisingly easy but maybe cause I’m an essential workers).
Did they changed it? Used to be if you got all 3 symptom, but now it’s only 1 of 3 symptom and self isolate?

The nerds at Google and Apple want you to know when even a single key has matched. The public health people at the NHS only want to tell you when they think you've had a serious exposure, and keeps silent otherwise. That's why you get two sets of mismatched notifications.
It does still mean
youyour phone has at least briefly been in contact with someone since confirmed positive, so it's not a complete false alarm. -

I went for a long run this morning. Didnt come within 2m of anybody else at any point but passed a whole lot of people. I'd assume that there's a chance the Google notifications will register a car passing me with somebody covid+ in or maybe even if I ran past somebodys flat...

Yeah, I suspect just coming across someone is easy. I have to walk by the Hackney Central testing facility to get to the Morning Lane Tesco. Suspect that'll result in a few hits.
-

doubt it would relate to this morning. I assumed more like someone you were near 5 days ago has since tested positive.
also I think most people only have it on when they're out and about, not sitting at home. -

It's always been one symptom and you isolate. I thought it was 2 at one point but someone corrected me in this threads sometime back.

Interesting! I've basically not left the house in the last week apart from a couple of trips to the supermarket.
:: narrows eyes::
Must have been one of the supermarket folk

Sitting on a train.
“I won’t wear a mask because it messes with my makeup.”I may cry.

I may cry
The observation that nearly made me cry in frustration today is the sheer number of Trump supporters who are claiming that the Whitehouse Covid outbreak must have been a deep state biological attack because none of the Democrat staffers have had an outbreak.
Nope, definitely nothing to do with the fact that one groujp seems to socially distance and wear masks and the other group does not.

that'll make your mascara run.

You’re right. I’m a bit emotional today to be fair.

:(
There are lots of tips on the internet how to combine masks and makeup.
You'd think people would be happy they only need to do makeup on half their face ;)

Yeah, the recent sentence I read is “this, this or this” whether before it’s simply “this, this, this”
I read the older information in the Lewisham walk-in and it never said “or”, unlike the website to book test, and the NHS apps.

Interesting if over-written article on targeting cluster spreading vs focusing on average spread. Not all examples convincing to me but it helped to explain the low sensitivity group testing thing which I hadn't understood before.

12,872 new cases yesterday - they're going to have change the axis on the charts...
They can talk about technical issues all they like but seeing as France, the Netherlands and Belgium all reported new highs too it's pretty obvious which way things are going.
I can't really see how a second lockdown isn't coming within the next fortnight.

It will 100% be announced on October 19th because I've booked a nice little cottage in Brixham on the 20th for 4 nights.
Of course Airbnb have a 'fuck you' policy when it comes to refunds so that's £800 pissed up the wall.
There was some testing going on with false alerts, but that was a few days ago?
