I was sober last time I did a GSIAD. The day of the forum birthday party.
It was a brilliant day.
Old though. Yeah, I see that. Although.... arrospok!

Farage tweeting from the pub when he should be in quarantine. Really hope he gets slapped with £1000 fine.

Been out doing food deliveries this evening. Judging by the crowds outside the newly open pubs, we're in for a vicious second wave.

Yeah the local was as rammed as I rode passed this afternoon, like it was Christmas Eve!

This is how it looked at Borough Market yesterday.

Belfast city centre was quite strange, people are coming back but it's nothing like a normal Saturday. Very muted still.
Some shops are very strict enforcing, in others people were a bit bunched together.
Didn't risk going out for a meal or drink, though our local pub/grub place seems quite strict and people are outside drinking, inside is meals only.
I totally get it people want to go out, I did a small shop today just... looking at the pictures here it just seems a total free for all in some spots :(

Well, that's London fucked, again. My local's still shut. Landlady said it wasn't worth the risk.

One thing that blows my mind is how the government and media are very happy reporting on the current R number of the virus, but I have never heard them explain, clearly and forcefully, that it is our behaviour that changes its value.
The tone of the reporting seems to be "R is below 1, so fill your boots with crowding together and getting pished" rather than "if you crowd together and get pished, R will almost definitely go up and lots of people will die."
-
• #14845
True, that is odd. Decoupling behaviours from their consequence.
-
• #14846
Also there's a significant hysteresis in the system. Behaviour now will affect the R number somewhere between a week and two weeks' time.
I wonder if the pubs will be shut again in a couple of weeks and we're, in effect, going to get something close to the Imperial original "x weeks freedom, 2x weeks lockdown, x weeks freedom, 2x weeks lockdown, lather, rinse and repeat..."

Yesterday was the first day I really became aware of tourists (Spanish and from elsewhere) in Valancia and I’m shocked how freaked out I got. Walking through the more touristy parts of town last night and the bars being the busiest they’ve been in months was weird, and I freaked out a bit. Really surprised how it affected me.
But now, seeing those images of the U.K., you can see the difference in behaviour here. Everyone at tables, spread out, mainly outside, with table service and online menus (which you access via QR codes on the tables). Compared to those images of Borough and Soho it feels a 1000 times safer.

I have forgetting how much noise there was from people in the evening riding back home from work, got so used to a quiet evening.

Watching the breifings, Whitty has been super clear about this and always bring it back to not out of the woods, can't become complacent, essential you must maintain good hygene and safe practices, if we don't do this things will get worse again.
But the messaging from the politicians, not so much. Almost like you should let a public health official deliver the messaging rather than people who want to be liked.

The police went on record saying drunk people won't socially distance.
Surely with even the best messaging the government could have predicted this?
https://www.newstatesman.com/2020/07/fatal-delusions-boris-johnson Fintan O'Toole "exceptionaliasm" idea is getting repetitive but both UK and USA are controlled (can't call this led) by reality denying types.
Bet it's out fault too they locked down the UK 2 weeks to late.
Rant over, home made mask nearly done :)
Old and sober.
