All those journalists squashed like spam together with few masks made me think that this story is scratching the itch we've all had to curtain twitch about habitual Covid linesteppers, while praising our own ability to follow all the rules perfectly. Maybe it's a British thing? But the Cummings story seems a valve for this frustration. Especially as the govt went so hard on previous cases and he seems kind of arrogant about it.

In non-Cummings news, just saw a group of lads, half of whom were wearing masks, all greet each other with hugs and handshakes.

They're bringing in Johnson for the 5pm briefing - he doesn't work any weekends, never mind Bank Holidays, so they must be announcing something.

Cummings is gone or it's an inquiry announcement.

The latter will prolong this. I can't see how Johnson could clap on Thursday given the pounding Cummings has been getting from NHS workers.

An inquiry is also the coward's way out, which fits Johnson's history so I'd bet on that.

So apparently they will announce an inquiry to try and sweep it under the rug. A brutal mix of cynicism, arrogance, incompetence and disregard for their responsibilities.
