  • It works as "everyone, this is some serious shit, you don't want to end up in here" public information? Is that what you mean?

  • As in, everything is geared up to prevent it being used but it's there if it is.

  • Clearly a lot of tropical or equatorial countries are going to struggle in testing and public health data. I was looking at Gulf States (UAE, Bahrain, Qatar), which have some of the highest tests per million of population ratios in the world. They all had first cases in late January or early February, and all have total cases of less than 6k, and total deaths less than 35. I don't know what other measures they have taken and appreciate warmer climate is one amongst hundreds of factors. I read the abstract from the link you posted, which seemed to say that coronaviruses are highly seasonal.

  • My personal opinion is Nightingale hospitals have three purposes in this order

If London hospitals had not been able to basically double critical care/ high dependency it would be a vital facility and absolutely be in use to a much greater degree.

The government has been seen to be doing stuff, demonstrated it had contingency plans for this situation and delivered this bit of it.

Message to the public, remember where you picked up your London Marathon numbers? Do you want to die there? Stay at home then.

  • I mean, they're obviously also storing all the new 5G kit there too.

  • In the Gulf States you spend a lot of your life in semi-quarantine anyway - people spend a lot of their spare time at home because it's too hot to go out. The only other comfortable place to spend time is in those huge shopping malls, which have been shut. They're probably the easiest countries in the world to impose social distancing.

  • Reminded me of...

  • Is the 'Stay Home. Protect the NHS. Save Lives' phrase a Dominic Cummings invention?

It's being repeated in the same mantra-like way as 'Take Back Control' and 'get Brexit Done'.

  • I’m with @>>>>>> this thread is useless without @dubtap

  • Don't know, but I think it is an effective message

  • everything needs a slogan, Stay Home. Protect the NHS. Save Lives will slowly morph into War is Peace, Freedom is Slavery, and Ignorance is Strength as the post apocalypse society emerges

by the looks of the upthread comments

  • I bet that poll was manipulated by Russian bots, 'cause Fox is always slagging off RT. :)

  • More seriously, some more up-to-date info on the disproportionate impact on BAME people:

  • Page 420 duuude.

  • A month old story about that chloroquine bs.

It's not mostly on the shelf as the article says.
A friend of mine needs it and has a prescription for it. She has auto immune problems and is really messed up.
Trump's constant promotion is causing shortages and now some pharmacies have trouble getting it.

Rant: the media here in Canada has been unbelievably shitty in their quality of reporting, the kind of idiotic questions they are asking politicians, and their unbelievably stupid misinterpretation of scientific articles.

I can see now why the tinfoil hat types ignore "mainstream media".

  • We had a firework letter-offer nearby at clap time. Local fb page now in meltdown with bolted / nervous pets owner complaints.

  • I went for the weekly shop from a local commercial wholesaler today, generally much busier in the village. Probably about the normal levels of people out and about for a lunchtime.

  • What’s up with the police? I kept seeing a group of 10-15 all huddled together outside shop, takeaway and houses.

Social distancing for everyone but the force.

They have no choice but to travel close together in vans, share changing rooms, and deal up close with criminals. Their job would be impossible 2 meters apart all the time. They are dealing with a massive uptick in speeding drivers, without them the roads would be alot less safe. A cyclist was killed last week.

  • I mean, I was only posting that because it's QLD and it was the second hit when looking for QLD related shit. Frankly I don't believe most shit about Covid, mainstream or otherwise. If nothing else the information is too rapidly changing for anything to be labelled 'fact' apart from some basic truths of viruses and how to minimise their spread.
