Riders will soon cross from Romania into Bulgaria for the final ~450km. The border between Romania and Bulgaria is drawn by the Danube river and riders have only three options to cross it, all of which are ferries and the bridge option is disallowed.
The three ferry options are as follows from east to west, and they’re marked on the map below:
Bechet to Oreahovo runs every two hours from 05:00 to 23:00 (20 minutes)
Turnu Magurele-Nikopol are 08:00, 12:00, 16:00 and 19:30 (25 minutes)
Zimnicea - Svishtoc are 08:30, 11:30, 14:30 and 17:30 (15 minutes) -

Thanks. Even then a few people said to me the times they run are 'variable'!

I bet they're all starting to suffer now.
There's not a day that goes by that I don't think about my own TCR experience. -

Had a wee bit of concern then as apparently there’s some sort of incident in Novi Pasar (shooting and air raid sirens) but looks like its suitably off route after CP3

Strasser has now joined the the front two. The trio look like they are only separated by about 5km. Should all reach the next checkpoint this eve?

Just a thought/bet:
Strasser will push now or immediately after CP3, hammering till the end.

I don't see why he would slow down. His only issue might be a slower route but given how solid his catch was it seems he has this fairly well under control.

no one will slow down unless for unexpected circumstances but I have the feeling that Strasser has learned (or has been suggested well) about the initial routing issue....

Fiona got back a bit of a gap. Rob Webb too. Looks like @wheels_of_fire is splitting east whereas they're going more north. Be interesting to see when they come together again before the CP.

I see a lot of participants with butt issues/saddle sores.
Is this mainly driven by lack of hygiene, hotness, sweat, rub or just lack of saddle adaptation before the race?
which tips can help mitigate the issue? -

more cake in training.
-
• #942
true, IBS can be triggered by increased sugar intake and linked to anal soreness.

couldn't find presta valves to fit his extenders then? Euro is mostly schrader other than specialist bike shops right? Feel bad for him.
I'd not be too keen on that as an option looking at these:
