Who is in?
Quite excited to be honest, also perfect timing to meet some people that might end up as riding company.
The Lfgss rough stuff rides Berlin could become a thing in 2023? -

If someone from the people in Germany wants a trek 1120 for a good price, 999€ is quite ok.
Gerade bei #eBayKleinanzeigen gefunden. Wie findest du das? -

I wonder how much they charged him for the yearly inspection after 100k.
-
• #155
Hahaha. 70€. I checked what the basic trek dealer service costs.

Anyone looking for a banging Laufrad for a 1-2yo? Excuse the non-drive side picture.

I’ve listed it for 150€ on Kleinanzeigen— happy to let it go to someone on here for 125€. Need the money for the bigger size, maybe one with pedals!

Cheers, probably a good price but I’ll pass. Good luck with the sale!

Anybody planning to go to the Velo Fair at Tempelhof next weekend? I‘ll be there on Sunday.

Who did drop me today on Tempelhof on some old Olmo while wearing Vans shoes? :)
I was riding a blue Principia, white jersey

Hi Berliners, visiting Austria and Germany for a couple of weeks and looking to end my visit in Berlin around the 20th/21st. I haven't had to look for Airbnbs in the city since like 2015, it's gotten proper nuts out there. Does anybody maybe have or know anywhere I could maybe stay for like a night or two around these dates? Would be great to meet some of you. Cheeers.

Hi all, I’m spending half of my time in Berlin these days as my partner has relocated there for work. I wondered if anyone had recommendations for a good powder coater in the city who has experience with bikes?
-
• #167
Neuser GmbH. Never used them, but that's where I would bring my stuff.
They are pretty big and professional, but definitely do bikes, and stuff I've seen is good. Not sure if I've seen bikes though. -

Thanks will check them out! Also another question any kind of bike kitchen/diy workshop i.e a place with work stands and tools to do your own wrenching and possibly pay by the hour? I have tried google and get a couple of hits but not sure if they are still open.

Polo people recommend Plattenladen Kollektiv in Neukölln. It’s a DIY very friendly, donations-based based workshop with everything you might need. http://plattenladenkollektiv.de/

Great thanks!

<3 Neukölln, maybe see you all later this summer!

I'll be moving, likely away from the UK, at the end of this year, and wondered whether I'd have enough interesting riding options if I went to Berlin? It's all flat, which is a bummer, but messing around with a tall fixed ratio doesn't sound too bad.
Are there lots of bike shop/mechanic job openings?
-
• #173
I think the riding can be ok, some stuff even is quite beautiful, my problem is more the long time you spend to get out of the city. This of course depends on where you live.
Loads of places looking for mechanics I would say, many want you to have a proper German mechanics degree I guess, but stuff for people with experience only also exists.

I don't have proper shop experience, but prolly enough for an entry level jobby. Would be nice to have an alternative to HR or advertising or the like.
How easy is it to hop on a train and go somewhere nice? Is the traffic/infrastructure alright for general riding?
I visited a while back and really liked the vibe of the city, could be nice to spend some time there.

Guess you'd find a job, but minimum wage here is low, and rents are high. My guess would be that the chain shops would need you to speak German, and small ones might be reluctant to have to train you.
@Sig_Arlecchino just had his last day in a good shop, guess he might have helpful insight. We often did (I don't really ride my bike it seems) take trains back into the city. This definitely works.
Traffic/infrastructure is up for debate. Loads of improvements, drivers are often dickheads, but there are some nice ways to get out of the city. And yes, it's a great place to live. I have big city blues often, loads of stuff doesn't work, we just got a new idiot government, but still very nice.
Also not that easy anymore for people arriving, literally no apartments and loads end up with a string of short term or a place that's way too expensive.
I am again posting to get some traction on this:

NEXT WEEK SATURDAY!
