I need a small bird guide, big birds are easy, it's the small brown ones that are difficult to identify at more than 10 yards.

Yeah really handy. I use this one, would recommend.

I was being slightly tongue in cheek, but that does look a good buy. I have several large guides, but I'm damned if I can find my original Bird Book for the Pocket by Edmund Sanders, from the 1930s by my guess.

The authors names even sound like birds. "couple of Swash, a Hugh Harrop and a little Tipling on this mornings walk..."

Collins Bird guide is the best book around, but a bit too big to carry on a walk. They do have an app though, if you're into that sort of thing.

Great Crested Grebe spotted at the lake today, sadly no photos. Nothing else of particular interest unfortunately.

Bit windy so no timelapse on feeder cam. Some visitors though & defo looks better on a bigger tv screen for casual viewing.
Doing the BGBW tomorrow, by when I might be able to stream a camera via YouTube, there's a 24hr delay on activation on YT which I wish I'd known about sooner.

That's great, funny closeup. Looks a lot clearer now?

I'm really happy with this set-up today.
Looks a lot clearer now?
Yes, usually I house it in a sistema box to be waterproof which adds a haze to the images, the small case is drilled out for the lens but not waterproof. This is the better quality of the 3 cameras I have too.
I'm still waiting for YouTube live to activate so hopefully the FishEye camera will be streaming on the Fatballs feeder later too.

Maybe you could silicone a cheap uv filter over the hole? Though you've probably thought of that

This. Or a cheapo ND filter.

I'm new to it so not up to speed on options for clear & waterproof covers for these cameras. I'll look into both options ta.
Sketchy signal at limit of range but live

The link keeps dropping and each new stream has a new url. I guess if you click on my "channel" via the above video it'll show you if it's live at that point.

Managed a quick visit to the Burgess Park lake today. Lots of ducks about, shovelers, tufted, pochard, coots, graylag geese, Canada geese and a cormorant munching a fish. The Egyptian geese have moved on.

Had the big camera out at the lake, will share any good pics later.

I keep mine in a little waist pack with a small bird guide. That way when heading out it's easy to just sling it over your shoulder. It's also got space for a flask of coffee.
