Yes I think the protruding eye sockets give the cormorant and almost primordial lineage. Part fish / crocodile...

I was very boring yesterday, got out of the house at 5.20am and the stars and bats were out. Lots of birds along the Thame valley.

Not much happening here, although after not seeing them for ages, big groups of Starlings appearing the garden.

I am right on the South coast, the flocks of starlings migrating in are massive this year.

Also this mucky duck who had been rooting around in some disgusting algae-infested backwater

Dead pigeon nearly fell on my head this morning. When I looked up saw a blackbird and a seagull acting well suspicious.

Been to Lake Vyrnwy today with work, first time visiting and it's stunning. Red Kites overhead, big flocks of finches, Meadow Pipits, Skylark, lovely

Few recent spots. Not been out in ages, so good to see lots going on!

Herons, Avocets, Curlews and lots of geese...

Ah the London zoo escapee, it was in Barnes yesterday

White-Tailed Eagle over Walthamstow, Hackney this morning. Of course I was working and had alerts turned off...

Still there, my girlfriend spotted it this morning. I'm hoping to see it when i get back this evening.

Apparently the zoo keepers were there yesterday to try and coax it away but it's enjoying SE suburban living.

Obviously a bird with impeccable taste.

I've been seeing the Cooper's Hawk pair almost every week for a couple of months, and now they seem to have a nest. Also a warbler in the cherry blossom.

Out monitoring friday night a small bird was imitating a nokia ringtone ! Only a small bird as well.

The jay who visits our garden has started making some new sounds. It's started imitating the parakeets, crows and barks like one of those flipping toy dogs.
