That's really nice and makes me think of the purple Klein I bought off here. Do you happen to know what the paint they used is called?

Is that the Konga 3" yoke? But you've curved the ends inwards and mounted the chainstays to the outside of it?

Thanks :)

Thanks, i think they called this finish candy violet laquer. It was done by armourtex on the hackney road.

yeah, Because i dont have any brazing stuff, i had to tig the chainstays to the yoke, and i found the best way was to cut a rebate kinda thing on the outside of the cs. Was a bit awkward to get it a nice fit, but made the tig easier.
i then welded a little cap on the end of the cs afterwards

Looks really cool.
I'd have thought it'd have looked huge next to a tyre like that but you've really made it site nicely.
I'm about to build another fat tyre fixed so might take some inspiration from this. I've ordered mtb s bend chainstays but reckon it's still going to be toight in that area. I've got a Konga yoke brazed up that I was going to use on a frame repair but might see how it'll fit on this frame.

Very nice dude, i really want a frame like that

Thanks, the yoke i used is the slightly smaller one, 2.15" instead of 3", i think that helps with the proportions

Thanks :)

well i built another one. Ive got quite alot in the way of tubes so will definitely get at least one more out before the lockdown is done.
This frame is another aggressive road frame, similar to the second frame i built. i changed out a few tubes and did an overall better job. also changed the cable routing a bit to work better.
Looking forward to getting it painted and built up.

next up is a out and out track frame. ive got a 42mm dt along with some beefy round chainstays. hopefully will be pretty stiff.
Ive had these nice bear frame supplies track ends for a while, with adjustable tensioner thingy. Should look really cool when its done.

Looks sweet. Welds looking really consistent. How did braze on the guides?
-
• #124
Thanks :)
The braze ons i do with a MAPP torch. Its a bit shit, quite hot but very big flame. So you have to be really careful with heat as it gets a large area hot. Can burn bits if your not careful.I plan on getting a proper oxy prop setup in a bit. I really want to be able to braze dropouts as well. I dont mind tigging dropouts but it doesnt look as good as a nice brazed and scalloped joint.

The versatility of having both will be great. Having a proper torch is so much nicer to use, definitely worth it.
I was tempted, but i ended up going with a purple not that different to the last picture, but with some sparkle. hopefully it will look ok, should get it back in a few weeks
