  • Anyone seen something very close to this anywhere?

    http://www.djstandz.com/home/products/laptop-controller-supports/tech-stand/

Took me a long time to arrive at ordering it and they just refunded me without any comms...

  • The design of the DJ Standz one is quite particular - high, wide shelf supported by large flat base.

I have one of those basic laptop stands and they are no good for CDJs - they wobble all over the place, and you'd struggle to effectively situate one over a turntable.

This is the absolute best design I have seen, but looks like they are US export only.

  • Have you thought about making your own? We use loads of this stuff at work and you can make pretty much anything out of it, a stand would be straight forward. KJN will cut everything to length, so design it up and order the struts/fittings/accessories and bolt it all together when it is delivered. Their BR range is the most cost effective.

  • Aha, gotcha!

  • Interesting. Based on this: https://www.aluminium-profile.co.uk/design-service - do you reckon if I send them some photos of the equipment in-situ, measurements and some stands I’ve seen that are nearly, but not quite right, they’d literally make a one off for me?

  • I think that is what they do. We design in-house, so have never had to use that service.

  • Awesome. I will drop them a note!

  • Keep us posted!

  • Omnitronic TRM-202 MK3 + a Kontrol X1 ordered today. Roll on thursday.

  • Spent a few hours on the omnitronic last night. Love the isolators but struggle a bit with the 2-band eq. Digging the smooth feel of the knobs though, makes for a different way of mixing.

    Think we’ll get along

  • Nice one. Got any mixes online?

  • I’m holding off ordering a stand. I think I can have two discrete set ups. Leave the vinyl rig alone, and have the digital set up on a - now raised - desk next to it.

The XDJs haven’t arrived yet, but will post a pic when I can get everything rigged up and running.

I’m digging through crates to sort out a long playlist for a set I’m doing at the start of next month.

At The Old Tigers Head in Hither Green if anyone wants to come down and jam.

  • Interesting new bit of kit. Numark is now running the Denon software on a more entry level PrimeGO-like all in one. Even has built in speakers.

  • That looks quite cool.

  • Ooooh nice if I had a spare 750 I'd snap that up.

  • My daughter’s expressed an interest in djing. I’m not convinced she knows what it really means (she’s 7) but I’d be keen to let her get involved. I only have one 1200 and no mixer these days - it’s been years since I did any djing, let alone played out. I don’t reckon she’d be that into using my records, so I’m thinking of getting a controller of some sort. A brief look in to what’s about makes me think I’m best off going for something like the numark mixtrack pro fx, which seems cheap but not total crap. Anyone got any thoughts on controllers at the budget budget end of the spectrum? Better still, is anyone selling something like that cheap?!

  • What have you got to work with it - laptop/iPad/iPhone - and do you already have music streaming services (especially Tidal)?

That Numark would be fine, but I'd probably always go Pioneer, even for a beginner. DDJ 200 or 400.

  • I’d use it with a MacBook Pro. I use Spotify, but I understand nothing is compatible with it now - I’m resigned to using mp3s I guess (probably converting Spotify playlists). I did look at the ddj 200 but I didn’t like that it was based around a Bluetooth connection. It seemed a bit more toylike than the numark, for a similar price. 400 looks legit, but out of my price range I’d say.

  • Yeah Spotify yanked support annoyingly. There was some expectation that they’d put out their own DJ software that is yet to materialise.

The DDJ200 worked alright with Bluetooth, just had to make sure you uses a wired speaker otherwise it was laggy and no good for beat matching.

Would need to check, but the Numark might work with Engine DJ as well as Serato. I’ve never used Serato but moved away from Engine DJ because I’ve been playing out on Pioneer/Rekordbox. Numark is part of the same group as Denon which makes Engine DJ and the new Numark all in-one mentioned up thread runs it. It’s not long had a major update, but I still prefer doing everything in Rekordbox.

  • This looks like fun

I have had a portable Vestax deck for over 20 years, and wondered what it would be like having two, and mixing with just the pitch dial and volume slider. This takes that one step further
