if I had another bike....
What'd suit you is a convertible tandem/longtail. Either takes a stoker or masses of cargo. I don't know if it exists yet

OK, onto the next project.
I am thinking of having a custom frame built by Marino in Peru, to replace the Cotic Solaris which is now a little long in the tooth. Differences will be:- Much more progressive geo (steep ST, slack HT, I know I like this from test rides of new bikes)
- Much more framebag space (although where I get a really good custom framebag I don't know)
- More tire clearance - 29x2.6 with mud front and back
- Some more brazeons, and other niceties like dropper routing and rear dynamo light routing
To top it off I expect the cost to be around £500 including shipping, pretty fair for a custom frame!
Then I will spend some money on a nice metallic purple paintjob and good decals. I like purple bikes.Your thoughts please....

Restrap will do you a custom bag, they did the strap for my Feather, I've also been bugging the other half to make a custom bag for the Orange, as she's got 2 sewing machines and an overlocker (all in the living room, but I get moaned at for the one bike), has been making trousers, so yeah if you want some trousers for your forks....
That Warthog looks weird with the horizontal toptube and such a slack head angle.
The Marino looks good.

falconer is the real winner .. how gnarly does the terrain has to be for panniers to not work?

Good thread, and hopefully I'll join one of your expeditions one day. What's the bike which includes bits of Meccano and a green Ovo fork...?! Looks...interesting

sus fork always, once you switch to one for bikepacking you never go back

Can't wait to see some tapped bottle bosses on the fork lowers.
this is not my project but it's my thread so I can post what the hell I want
bob jackson frame, setup singlespeed with a hellishly long fork, a 20" wheel, and 3 bells
could cram the mother of all cargo baskets on there
if I had another bike....
