This isn't based on my own experience or any particular level of expert knowledge, but somewhere lodged in the deep recesses of my memory I think I read the same thing, that excessive shot blasting of heavily butted thin walled steel tubes resulted in pinholes. Can't remember where I read it but I'm sure I read some advice that shot blasting high end steel such as 853 more than once wasn't ideal.
From the blasting media that is embedded in the current paint it looks pretty course, being done in house by the frame builder though...
I'm just wondering as I asked Google and saw a few posts bemoaning mysterious holes appearing in 853 frames after repainting . Pish. Pish. Pish.
