You must have missed the last half of the sentence. I said I’d call you a

Cool, i'd still like to do a run mid summer but I'll happily lead another with you lot if the date doesn't work.
-
• #29
Propose 3 different dates. We are like moths to a flame... Wave an exciting cycling proposition in our faces and we will be pulled towards it.
I personally have a very open July as it stands...

Roydon actual season opener: https://www.lfgss.com/events/4718
All this talk of opener is making me thirsty.
-
• #31
If so I’m gonna arrange with my club to do the same ride and everyone’s welcome.
Ha. Trying to desperately cling to the wheel of your mate at 20mph for 80miles, chewing my stem whilst staring directly into his epileptic-fit-inducing rear light, and arriving far too early for breakfast, will go down as one of my most painful nights ever!
-
• #32
HA! I thought that was brilliant, we got a real thing going there muching those miles. I seem to recall it was >200k in the end :)
-
• #33
Yeah it was 200k but we rode out separately to Farnborough for some reason. Thankfully I took that ride out super-easy otherwise I’d never have clung on! :)

😱
-
• #36
No.
I mean I won't go on it, but I won't object either.
-
• #37
Hah!
Do you think you can make it out this week???
I’m sure everyone would be happy with a gentler ride and I’m not sure YAL is gonna be feeling The Widowmaker just yet...
-
• #38
I would actually like to ride the Widowmaker again and see if I’d walk up that time or not. But if you’d like to ride it please go ahead.
-
• #40
Clement isn’t around is the thing. I’m good with south anywhere and enabling your attendance. Kent 3.5 it is. Wanna make the event?
-
• #41
That's the idea, if you give The Widowmaker a miss this week I can attend at a later point. Roll on Kent!

• #42
New ride up!

I was thinking Potters Bar or Welwyn next week (9th). Is it too early in the season for Welwyn? Everyone except me seems to be in good shape for the Welwyn breakaway so maybe it's not. Unless @cgg is back and fancies the Widowmaker which I could probably hande (ie walk) at this point.
I would also like to propose sunsetting Chingford as a "legacy route". I suggest getting the troops together for some blue-sky thinking and see if we can't horizon scan for full-stack approach and synergize new learnings re: another Essex loop. I'll cascade a deck for you to absorb before close of play this week.
On the real those roads are getting busier not quieter since it was first drawn up. Not enough of the route is quiet and/or safe IMO to justify it as a proper TNRC route these days...
-
• #44
Won't to be upset if I don't ride Chingford again. Shame we'll miss the mild.
I did enjoy the couple of Chilterns rides last year. Let's not forget those this year.
-
• #45
Great idea. I haven't been to the Chilterns in years. Maybe Amersham?
-
• #46
I’m back on the 9th and we should ride North. Chilterns sound good!
-
• #47
This one was lovely last year, although we did it around the solstice, on a world cup night and it was still twilight when we got to the pub, non of which will apply next week. The bastard will still be a bastard though.
-
• #48
I had no idea that there was a Clapham train that went up there. Pretty good to know!
-
• #49
Nor did I. Not sure how useful for the way out (times don't stack up and you still can't put a bike on before 7pm.
There is a perfect return at quarter to 11 though. Wonder if a "London any" return will cover both routes...

Looks like it could be a good excuse to bring the new gears. The Giant is now 48x15 which might be less than fun
Why haven't you called? You said you'd call me.
