Cheers! Yeah the music is not going to be everyone’s cup of tea that’s for sure. I’ll try to do some more accessible stuff too. In fact I fancied a sing along today so cranked Motley Crue’s best album Shout at the Devil. Non-stop tunes.

My road bike is also a Pretorius Outeniqua like my wife’s (but rim brake and much older). Actually we’ve ended up with quite a matchy matchy collection (especially once I get the Day One up and running next to her CdF).
Given this bike does some pretty big miles and takes everything from grotty winter miles to summer crits I've never seen a reason to upgrade from mechanical Ultegra despite lots of other bits breaking or being swapped out.
I bought these Eleven Sprocket wheels second hand for next to nothing in a rush pre-race (as my old wheels got totalled in a crash). They're pretty light but the braking is bollocks. I'll get rid of them when I get round to it and get something nice.
I won't be racing crits again ever I doubt. I can't be bothered with the crashes and general alpha male nonsense I've come across in that scene (maybe it was more like that abroad than here though). I much prefer the TT/hill-climb scene. Everyone seems pretty chilled out and friendly and in real life (fortunately) nothing like the horror-show that is the TT forum.
If I’m not racing it I could get some nice wheels for the Pretorius and not worry about them getting banged-up. Not a priority by a long shot though. The Turbo Cotton tires are pretty dreamy though.

I wonder if it's possible to buy left and right hand of SRAM hydros with no shifting bits on them... I liked hylex anyways

Both your and your OH's Pret's are rad. Well proportioned and well appointed bieks.

This sounds like my racing experiences in the UK

That's also how you behave when riding in Denmark...

Cheers, they’re really great bikes to ride. I’ve used mine for everything from audaxes to crits and it’s great (though it only takes 25c tyres so leaves plenty of scope for other essential bikes to be bought).

I think you can only get the left lever with no shifting paddle, but could be wrong.

Kona dad biek needs some serious TLC. It was savaged by a few years of beach trips and salty sea air when we were away and hasn't really recovered.
Needs a full strip and re-build. I'd like to get it set-up in a similar fashion to these kinds of builds (because you’re basically nobody if you’re not running a retro mtb touring machine these days!).
Perhaps a home grown paint job would be fun to try. The current one was done by the previous owner and is truly awful (decals applied post powdercoat and peeling off!) so it couldn't hurt to try and do a better job. That is definitely tinkering for the summer though.
With three kids now I'm trying to justify a cargo bike to my wife, but she has correctly pointed out that we're moving back to London next year and where the hell would you store one of those!? I don't like the idea of something so expensive being locked-up outside the whole time. Perhaps I could convert the Kona to have one of those 20" front wheel cargo forks (though those rad Crust ones are basically impossible to get hold of) and get one or two kids in there. Needs some investigating. Or a trailer.

I'm now enjoying Motley Crue at work, thanks!
Also that Kona is great.

People actually enjoy Motley Crue?

Best Cervelo paint job there is in my eyes👌🏻

I can't see any of the TinyPic images. Anyone else? Is there a Chrome extension I can use to fix it?

Not sure but I’m utterly shit at IT. They seem to work for me and seemingly most others.

Yeah it’s a nice one. I’m not a huge fan of red on bikes so it’s about as minimal red as you can get on a Cervelo TT frame!

Next piece of the puzzle arrived (back) for the Pretorius tarck.
Nice Sram Red (black edition) caliper. Will team it up with some carbon S900 levers. It’s been on a nice journey off my old tt bike, over to the lovely @jambon for his tt build (RIP) and now back to me! Should make a nice looking front end with the black levers and bars (likely Deda crabonz).
Still unsure about finishing kit for the Pretorius. I’m sorely tempted to drop some J. Guillem ti bits on it - nice but pricey.
Definitely going to wait until I see what the paint job looks like before pulling the trigger, but could look pretty special with those parts on.

Also been smashing some horrible over and unders on Trainerroad in an attempt to bring the ftp up to fighting standards. What better to pair excruciating pain with, but black and death metal!!
Wachenfeldt just dropped a ripper of an album out of nowhere. This chap is actually a really talented violinist by trade but has some serious metal chops.

But it’s mainly been a cavernous death metal kinda day. Few bands have been pushing this sound lately and it’s really great to my ears. Blood Incantation dropped an amazing EP a few years ago called Starspawn (can’t wait for their next release, hopefully full length) but Burial Invocation have reallly taken up the mantle with Abiogenesis.

And for anyone who hates metal, listen to Heavy Dreamer by Vanishing Kids. One of the greatest albums I’ve heard in the last ten years. Like Beach House if they weren’t so wet and could fucking shred! The solo at the end of Reaper is so good.

@Ottomanotter I like (some) metal but that Vanishing Kids album is absolutely fantastic. I lived with a mate who was into all sorts of Nordic /Finnish/Icelandic black metal, which I wasn't a fan of, but this is more doom-like, prog-but-technical and brilliant. Thanks for the heads-up!

Yeah Power Trip are a hoot! Some of the only decent thrash of late.
Was super late to that Spirit Adrift album, but it’s had a lot of plays since - fantastic step-up from their debut - really channeling the Sabbath vibe for the modern era!

Picked-up some bargainous Force 1x levers and brakes for the Day One.
Will investigate whether I can remove the shifter paddle as won’t be needed on the fixed machine. Will be great to have hydraulics on there and whilst it might seem a waste to not use the shifter I love the hood shape and action.

Got out at the weekend for a family cruise between showers. Genesis going well in full mama mode. Need to get some decent mudguards now we’re back in the UK. I like those hammered Velo Orange ones which I think would look good in black.

Subbed for bike builds, haven't tried out the music yet...
The Genesis with Jones bars is amazing, I remember it from a different thread.
