Still not having it...the all out speed record bike, now you're talking. Needs more dragster and amazing women for the full effect.

Seen this in the flesh at Brooklands museum. Set up for the world record on rollers. 334kmph.
If you've not been, you should. Concord, formula one, crazy bicycles and the world's oldest race track. -

why does it need to be so aero for a rollers record?

Looking fast is half the battle?
I think he rode it to some pretty decent speeds while actually moving too.
It was pretty mad for 1995 a little bit more here:
This feat was achieved on his specially-built bike called the Millennium Cycle. The record-breaking machine used silica tyres filled with helium and ceramic bearings designed to revolve with minimum friction.[6]
Bursford's 'Ultimate' bike won him a Millennium Product Award.[7]

And of course dedicated downhill speed record bikes.
Giovanna Bonazzi, Eric Barone and Christian Taillefer. Don't know a lot about the scene, but there were nice machines built for that glacier run! -

Sorry not been on here much but this is the sort of thing I envisaged - while the bike is not massively interesting there's a specific weird goal with a detailed explanation of every single component choice.

That was Bruce Bursford’s bike. He was a complete fraud, he claimed ludicrous records like pedalling the bike on rollers on board an aircraft and claiming 560mph + whatever he was doing on the bike. The aero bit was just for show as the bike never actually went anywhere.
His roller records were bullshit too, the bike was clamped front and rear so he wasn’t actually balancing. Also, the rear wheel barely touched the roller and the speed was taken from the rear wheel rpm via a sensor. Friction was almost non-existent and speed was dependent on what gear he had on at the time. He was on Record Breakers and he got up to 100+ in seconds, it was nonsense. If he’d had a 400t chainring he could have registered 700 mph or whatever. I once challenged him to a speed trial, him on his bike and me on my streamlined recumbent bike. He never accepted. He was killed training on the A12 not long after. Sad, but he was a dick. -

Guy Martin's done a few weird record attempts..
It's track bike parts on a Bullitt frame. It's useless for normal track stuff and it's useless as a cargo bike. Close enough?
