Is this fixed only?
-
• #4
Is it roads or groad?
-
• #5
In pending date etc.
-
• #6
Fixed or ss I reckon.
-
• #7
Route suggestions welcome. Realise I should have made this an event as well.
-
• #9
Not got a fixed or ss at the moment but for a route I'd advise Sheffield City Centre, Fulwood, Ringinglow, Fox House, Grindleford, Eyam, Great Hucklow, Tideswell, Chelmorton, Flagg, Grangemill, Via Gellia, Matlock, Stanton, Chatsworth, Owler Bar, Sheffield.
Some challenges but nothing too outrageous.

Alright sound will do it pending date etc.

Routes suitable for 1 bottle & 1 brake please, refilling half way... And avoiding crazy descents if possible.
Strava 'min elevation' might help here. Trip to Monsal Head for a little bit of HC?
-
• #12
Where are we starting from? Sheffield?
-
• #13
Manchester is easier for me but happy to get a train
-
• #14
How far can you get on one bottle and what constitutes a crazy descent?
Monsal is OK for hill climb but there's not many ways there that don't involve climbing something a bit more serious. And as you'd be right next to it, Sheldon is a more rewarding challenge.

V interested should this go ahead.

In! Will be good to meet and put a few more faces to names on here :-)
Also prefer start from MCR side but it's not a very long train journey (thumbs up emoji).
I guess there's a little less distance to cover before reaching the National Park if leaving from Sheffield. -

My 2p is 1) water bottles can be refilled so that shouldn't be an obstacle to distance and 2) why go all that way unless we're going to do the good shit. We can just gear down to do all the best climbs eg Holme Moss, Monsal, Winnats, and dare I say it, the alt right's favourite bobble-hatted climb: MAM NICK

• #18
I'm in! And fully support including some of the "best climbs", no point riding the peaks if we just flirt with the foothills.
Also Manchester based but open to train travel.
-
• #19
Manchester means either entry via Woodhead (grim) or Snake (changeable) unless you take the long way out for an assault on Rainow or the Roaches.
-
• #20
I can give one person + their biek a lift from Bury if needed.
-
• #21
I normally go in trough snake pass or Buxton trough brickworks, long hill or cat & fiddle
-
• #22
How bad can it be to get to the peaks from Sheffield or Manchester? I cycle through 6 zones of metropolitan London filth to get to the lanes, I'm sure I can handle some boring northern suburbs
-
• #23
You say that until some scally in a pristine fake North Face tracksuit accosts you outside a vape shop, and all you can decipher is him periodically shouting, "I SWEAR DOWN!"

• #24
Also keen for this pending date

Sheffield is OK, 5k from the station and you're practically there. You can take a nice enough route out of Manchester but it'll burn time.
Chesterfield has the best line out but its a shit town to end up in post ride.If you want to maximise good riding time, do Macclesfield or Buxton.
Aka LFGSS rides the Peak District.
Date set 2nd March 2019
