I think descending fixed for 1020 reps would have been harder than going up?
Or how many tyres do you think you could wreck in 24 hours if you skidded down cobbles (or helmets or knees for that matter)

Challenge idea: negative everest fixed gear no brakes.

Combine 24hr Ubereats and Everesting next? Find someone who lives on a hill that likes mcD.

Someone has done that. Charli in Colorado. They have a Vimeo video about it too. Don't remember the title / link right now though. But they got first brakeless fixed Everesting!

Doesn't show up for me for some reason. Can you paste the link/video into this thread? Would be pretty!

Well done to @veganjoseph for an amazing achievement.
Also congrats to @GoatandTricycle, but commiserations for being completely overshadowed by doing your smooth road / geared Everest at the same time as VJ! -
• #137
Yeah, what happened @GoatandTricycle? How'd it go?
-
• #138
Haha yeah. Thanks guys, went pretty well. Was pretty wet at the start, 2am, so lost time on my schedule early on.
Had a bit of a moment at about 11 o’clock where I had to take a longer break than planned as stomach was quite bloated.
Feel pretty good today considering, bum is a little sore from the faster decents. Submitted this morning so fingers crossed. -

Well done. How long did it end up taking and how many reps? Learn anything from it?
-
• #140
Almost 18hrs. 100 reps and did an insurance one just in case.
The rain and delayed light made first decents quite a bit slower than I’d have liked.
Hmm good question, having had a pretty rough time on TCR I was a bit nervous about having to rely on such will power again but actually I quite enjoyed it. I hadn’t trained for it but made me realise how far I’ve come in terms of preparation for such events/ challenges. Also should state that @hazzelfrazzel was a great help on the day in making everything go smoothly.

Big day out! That's cool knowing you can prepare and execute something like this.
I've still got one on my todo list, but not a virtual one any more and maybe I'd just go for something local and shallow (it'll probably take 3 days!) so that I could coax the missus out with more supplies every few hours. Actually, I just thought of a "fun" one I could back in Oz, hmm.
Now you get to go Trench something.

Imagine how fast he would be if he had read the LFGSS everesting and hill climbing threads....
-
• #147
He went one better on the bottle cage front haha
-
• #148
A bit of drillium and he would have broken 7h
-
• #149
I wonder how he was descending? If he'd left the drops on the bars would it have allowed him to descend quicker?
Anyway, 300W NP for 7.5hrs! I threw him some coin for his efforts, he's fundraising here:

This isn’t a slight quite the opposite, but guessing he might have had some Atlantic assistance.
Yeah, strange thing is the Android phone GPS data actually stuck closer to my real position but was a bit more erratic at times (when I uploaded to Strava it seemed to count 1,020ish reps). Although, the upload is purely for the harnessing of the barometric Wahoo data more than my accurate position in the horizontal plane of existence.
Freewheel - yep, I'm going to switch to fixed soon. Got myself a bolt-on cog from VeloSolo which I am excited to try out. Haven't ridden fixed for almost 6 months. Now I have no reason not to!
