  • No I’m trying to keep this light and fun, the rest of my bikes are burdened with guards, racks, dynamos and all the frumpy stuff.

  • Nice machine, see you’ve gone for fat tyres too. Just back from first ride on mine and it is so much nicer on the 28s with low pressures, like night and day nicer.

  • Cheers, this Tufo's are actually true 25c's but it's now on 25c GP 4000's which are essentially 28mm on those rims.

How's the braking? Tried it in the wet yet?!

  • No but I have the same rims on a road bike and it’s been fine. They’re the Farsports ones with basalt brake track. Cheap Aztec carbon pads, they feel real nice and squishy.

  • Splendid! Tyres are a very tight fit, as you say. What brakes are they?

  • Brakes are 105. I was worried about the tyres rubbing with flex but nothing doing, all good.

  • Excellent, link to the rims would be great if you don't mind.

That’s the wheelset, I can’t see the rims on their own but you definitely can buy them, maybe just email them, communication is excellent.

  • Phew that's even tighter than the 28 mm IRD tyre (on Kinlin XR31T) that I squished into my Tom Board. I had to get new 105 R7000 brakes to accommodate the width of that rim — two fronts, so as to have a long pivot bolt for the nut-fit rear. I was putting the tools away when I realised I had not reversed the brake shoes on the rear!

  • Hadn’t considered that more modern callipers can accommodate wider rims, I just wanted up to date looking black brakes and found these on eBay. Good job I did then.

  • Here's mine in winter commuting mode. Managed to squeeze in 28c tyres under the mudguards. Excuse the green dust cap but I like to keep the winter road crap off my valves.

  • Nice and functional.

  • What mudguards are they if you don't mind me asking?

  • They are Raleigh Elements Flare 700c x 35mm Reflective Mudguard. Very similar to SKS with reflective strip around the edge. Came with a rear reflector I think. Purchased from ProBikeKit in 2015 and used since early 2016 on a similar bike. Have lasted well, even got run over by a 4x4.

  • Ta very much. Will be fixing mine up similarly very soon.

  • Mine in work mode - n=1 of late so new chain and bar tape - front brake has seized so annoyingly it brakes asymetrically and I can't get the front rack mount off as of yet which is noisey, so I might look into drilling that out (and then probably) getting some new forks.

  • Just a Dolan really, had it for a while and I can't see me getting rid of it till it brakes. On the look out for a solid 47t chainring in silver as 46 is a bit too spinny for long shifts although I do like the looks. Excuse the crappy pics my phone is on its last legs!

  • Looks great.

  • Missing cranks bolt
    Nice bike!

  • sharp eyes - one managed to unscrew itself and fall out - sorted now!

  • Oldie but a goodie

  • not embedding for me

  • The new Genesis Flyer is likely to have disc brakes (and grey).

  • Plural?

So no longer a 120mm read end?

  • I don’t know, all I notice from the spec sheet is disc, 2021, grey, Flyer and £550.
