  • After almost 1000km, finally went back to Stayer yesterday to affix some #tnrc flaps so my bike is now completely civilized, and we took a few pictures in the dying afternoon light and drizzle.

  • Probably my favourite forum bike at the moment. 10/10!

  • The red one from eBay?

  • A powerful argument in favour of the modern fixie!

  • Seriously considering a Stayer after seeing that, they make some really nice bikes! Keep the UK going instead ofturning to Moots etc ;)

  • Ha! Was just coming here to post that photo from Stayer's Instagram. I strongly suspected it might be an lfgss special. Really really good.

  • Definitely best of show

  • What’s it like riding fixed on that size of tyre?

Take it skidding isn’t so easy and neither would getting skiddable tyres?

  • I ride a 40c, rides fine but the wheels are slow to spin up. The same with geared bikes I guess.

  • I'm in the queue for a fixed road!

  • It does skid if you put a bit of heart into it, I've never been much of a skidder anyway so that's fine. The tyres roll nicely otherwise, I might try G-One Speed next as people have said that they're better.

  • That's what I've got on my day one.

  • Artisan fixie!

  • I might try G-One Speed next as people have said that they're better.

I've got the 650x2" on my bike if you want to take it for a spin.

    Bike looks fantastic btw

  • I have a BNIB 700x30 of those for sale too..

  • 700X30 G-one's ride very nicely on my R-F/F-R but to soft for skidding on IME.

  • Cheers! Come to North one of these evenings and we can swap bikes :-)

  • @cgg are you bringing this on Wed night? If not, can you explain what is going on with the dropouts / track ends or whatever kind of tom-foolerly is going on back there? I see all kinds bolts and extra holes and layers and stuff and attachments. Plus is there some kind of HOSE going to rear wheel? It is all so confusing for me

  • Omg I think you have a rear brake back there! Oh Clement have a bit more faith in your knees please, you don't go down Whitedown that often.

All that being said I love it and I want the same bike. Do you think they would do 50% discount if I didn't want a rear brake? Must be half the work right

  • I will certainly be bringing this on Wednesday evening. But for the benefit of others the bike uses Paragon Machine Works Rockers dropouts which allow to tension the chain whilst keeping the rear wheel axis fixed relatively to the rear brake caliper (also the dropouts can be changed for ones with thru-axle, derailleur hanger etc)

So yeah, there's a rear brake caliper on here even though there's no rear rotor, because after installing it and bleeding it and everything we couldn't find the rotor (the workshop ate it). I'll probably remove the caliper at some point but as it's full of oil I'm a bit reluctant to faff with it.

  • Have you managed to ride it all this time without squeezing the left brake lever (or right - I don't know if you changed your leaver set-up to the correct way as part of your request for indefinite leave to remain post brexit).

Squeezing it accidentally could pop the pistons out and leave an impressive trail of pad, piston and mineral fluid. No doubt you already know this.

  • I gave his levers a good squeeze a few weeks ago. There was no explosion of fluids, but I wouldn't say it was as stiff as a board.

  • Oh yeah, there's currently a pair of new pads and a brake block in there so no risk of explosion.

  • There's no shame in two brakes fixed, stop bullying him.

  • Aha, makes sense.
