I can fit on a TCR but no chance on a Canyon.
Really?

I have TREX arms.
Giant accommodate. Unless they’ve changed the geo? Canyon have always been long and low no?

I see. I have a long torso and longish arms and I'm happy with both. The sizing doesn't quite compare though, on the Ultimate I was spot on on a Medium, on the TCR (although I own a M) I am better off with a M/L.

I have TREX arms.
Endurace

The numbers aren’t significantly different, no?

I’m not convinced ;-)
Seems like marketing mainly, as I had considered changing frames.
To pre empt the next move, I’m pretty sure I’ll get 32s on my ultimate later today. -

I was tempted to purchase gumwalls for a bit of colour
-
• #169
thats the diff in my size, significant IMO
Plus Endurace has smaller wheelbase!

That’s only 1cm.
And wheel base .5cm
I guess it depends ultimately what you consider significant -

yeah tru, I'd have liked it to be even more high and short but 🤷🏽♂️

I find the compact geometry of a tcr much more agreeable for longish legs, shortish torso
Ordered a tcr adv 2 from Westbrook cycles. Little plug, nicely discounted. added 'spring' and got it down to £1249, which is cheap for what it is. gonna switch out the wheels and cockpit for some weenie gainz.:

curious why? i'm a tiny bit long in the torso and short in the legs and ride a tcr. haven't tried an ultimate though.

So, might be time to swap the arkose to something more road orientated. It will be my only bike so must be disc and have mudguard mounts. More tyre clearance the better really within constraints of road geo. Currently thinking:
- Cannondale synapse (or synapse SE)
- Ribble Endurance SL
- Giant defy advanced (1 or 2)
Any others I should be considering? Budget probs around 2k and leaning towards endurance type geo (it will not be raced). Tempted by carbon but could be persuaded otherwise...
- Cannondale synapse (or synapse SE)

I'd get the Giant. My general rule of thumb with road bikes is buy the most mainstream brand bike. They are great.
AND the Defy 2 looks like much better value for money than 1 IMO.
I ended up buying a BMC Alr disc as per @amey ‘s advise from https://athlostriathlon.com/
I gather from my experience that the proprietor (Colin) is a one man band operating out of a warehouse in Northern Ireland. It arrived a couple weeks late and the brakes aren’t set up very well, but with the January sale discount included the purchase was nearly £400 cheaper than Evans + a free pair of keo pedals. He was very friendly and considerate so I’m inclined to share my recommendation.
