  • I realised after you mentioned it ages ago that I've had some for years (Team GB were using it). I have some of the Dermol 200 I think, it's like a shower gel but less harsh on the skin or something. Maybe I'll give it another go.

  • Guess I'll have to follow Matt's trackleader this year instead :)

  • it can be used as a soap substitute, i use it as moisturiser.

    it's antimicrobial

  • Think I've just bought the last of the things I need!!

  • That is good going! Still have loads to do and go through entire route again.

  • I peeled off great swathes of sitbone skin last night. So satisfying.

    Yummy.

  • Hurry, you are way behind - you need to buy all the things that you don't need now!

I'm gearing up for another returns round:

    • Shoes with big lump in the middle of the sole
    • Photochromic sunglasses that don't go clear
    • Bar bag that doesn't fit on my bars
  • Ahahaha sure you have. :P

  • Sometimes I think you have your head up your arse

  • Photochromic sunglasses that don't go clear

None of them do, do they? I gave up on mine and took two pairs to the Pyrenees. Much better.

  • I wasn't watching what I was doing but you're still definitely correct. :)

  • Yes, my prescription ones do, near enough anyway. Also my ultra-cheap ones from eBay do. I'll most likely use the latter as the former distort to make it look like I am always going slightly uphill at night.
Two pairs would probably be simpler and slightly better for night, but bulky, fragile and easy to lose when not wearing.

  • Split my route in to sections yesterday.
I've got more climbing than I'd like but can't see any obvious gains.
My route is conservative I'd rather pass through smoothly than risk a path that doesn't exists etc.

  • I've not been on the bike for two weeks so trying to keep calm about that by sorting everything else.

  • I stick one on my eyes and one in a pocket or in the saddle bag. Mine are cheap as shit safety glasses stolen from mine sites in Oz. I don't tend to lose stuff (I think the Gore shorts were blown under the verandah in USA).

  • Handy. If I start to enter a tonne of events next year, stop me. It's fucking mental trying to sort logistics, routes, kit and everything for races that are only weeks apart.

  • Getting on top of your route will probably be a better use of time than riding would have been.

Says me as I go off to do lunchtime intervals in Richmond Park!

  • This is gonna be a long one. I'm still over 4100k and 44-46,000m

  • Similar to what I have 4076km and 43,700m but I still need to check through it again but cannot see I can lose much distance.

  • don't focus on distance, but on quality and efficiency.

  • I've added some distance to use safer, less busy roads. It's still gonna be an extra half day/day over last couple of years.

  • Okay, thanks! Am going to go through entire thing again anyway.

  • 3948km and 44,500m here

  • I think my route was about 4050km of something that looks rather efficient, but I put it together so quickly I should really go through it in detail again and get more familiar with the parcours too. That'll indeed be more important than minor details in gear etc. but I've had other things to keep me busy.
Just bought a new frame bag as the old one gave up and put some new parts on the bike too, it's good to go with just a change of tyres and chain. All the other gear is basically ready too.

I have a flight, insurance and doctors note, should book hotel in Burgas and the flight back from France. Also signed up for PBP if I'm conscious by then.

I'm organizing a 24 hour version of a race like this in Helsinki again in the end of August and plan to ride through all the possible checkpoints for that before TCR, but spending days at work isn't helping with that.
