  • 7700 are octalink, not square taper. Also they're fatter.

  • Def not, the 7700 are octolink. These are sq taper.

Owned a set, should never have sold em, they has 7410 printed on em.

  • I always rode Campagnolo super record and love the boxy, solid way it looks but the later aero Campy designs are more visually pleasing. However, I'm riding Ultegra at the moment and have to say this chainset does look good.
It's horses for courses, of course. But I have to admit that the Cannondale unit really doesn't do it for me. Maybe 20 years ago and I'd have been in love all over again but in 2018.... No.
    😁

  • My guy! I'm building up a light tourer for the missus and have managed to (mostly) source 9sp 'Racing T' stuff for the front half of the drive train.

Same kind of era, similarly beautiful...perhaps even moreso as a triple, weirdly.

    Love the stuff.

  • I should have looked more closely (the bronze logo threw me). I have both and yes, the 7400 is square and the 7700 is Octalink (1 not 2). The 7400 has the logo square etched in while the 7700 is printed so not sure what is going on with that left crank arm. Track?

  • damn some of the cranks in this thread are so fucking ugly these ones sprouted legs just to try and flee the depraved horror of it all...

  • favourite old school are last gen campag record.

favourite new school are Phil tarks.

  • Only awkwardness was that is uses the short spline V1 Octalink, no? Proprietary tools and fit for the spiders aside, ofc.

Speaking of, the hen's teeth Home Brewed Components spiderless chainring for M950 cranks is god-tier hotness

  • 2002 Campagnolo Record.

  • Has to be Dura Ace 7400 series for me.

Love the deeply engraved logo on this groupo.

Think the Coda mtb cranksets with the crazy 1 piece triple ring setup are worthy of a mention too,

    502m

    and 701m

And lastly, the people over at FRM seem pretty handy with a CNC machine,

  • i will likely be on my own here but ive always liked the Sakae Edge, its cheap & probably made of cheese but had a smidge of starfish with less of a clumsy look, a hint of the future at the time and probably aiming at the sante or later budget 300ex/500 groupsets for clean lines. Goes totally unnoticed.

  • I was going to post those Dura Ace 7400s. Also the similar styled 600ex

Campag triomphe/victory are pretty good looking cranks.

  • It's just faded. All the 7410 and 7700 components do the same, headset, hubs, rear derailleur, crankset. The logo fades to this colour.

  • only, front hub, headset and brake caliper that looks like : )
    7403

    7700

    7410 : pédals, seatpost, headset, crankset,BB
