  • Yes. Looking forward.

  • Totally missed this build having not been on here for ages, looks great. Full campag is an interesting choice, are you sure you have the space in the rear to fit 11S? My Couriers are all 126 OLN. Great to see another Courier build anyway, we'll have to meet up when its done.

  • I'm hoping it will fit - i've had a 130mm bit of wood placed between the rear dropouts for around a month to give them a bit of a stretch and had the hubs in so i'm hopeful.
We're in BoA a lot , regularly scoffing food and other things at the Castle so a courier meet would be great.
We could have our own class in the hill climb... :)
By the way this is an 87 frameset

  • Should be fine. I stretch all three of mine to fit my bike stand, that has a 130mm fixed axle to secure the frame.

Really like the rim choice for this, not familiar with these. What hubs are you building onto?

Also what cantis are you getting? These might actually be the hardest it of the build to match up with everything else you've spec'd. It's going to look ace.

I'm just round the corner from the Castle, it is almost my local. I do venture out to SP sometimes but usually road routes. Where are you based?

  • Wheels have just been built with silver spokes and silver campagnolo record 10 speed hubs (fit 11 cassettes) . Looking at some silver dia compe cantis. Bit ott using all campagnolo road group set but should be nice. Currently in hilperton but moving over your way in the next 12 months or so (hopefully!)

  • Wheels built:

  • Sexy wheels are sexy!

  • Wheels look great. When does the build start?

Ps agree yours is an '87 also. The paw print pantograph is the giveaway.

  • Tonight after a shite day at work i pottered in the garage listening to the radio 📻
Tyres and wheels fit but there is almost zero chain stay clearance...
Unfortunately the frame also feels a bit cramped/low. I’ll see how it feels again over the next few days before deciding what to do next

  • Another cack day at work but tried out a 130mm stem and it feels a lot better. I’ll need to translate this fit into a quill stem set up at some point

  • Looking good/low.

You can get some pretty phallic/high rise Ahead stems as well. Could save the need to go quill/skinny bar.

  • I quite like this cinelli Pinocchio stem in 130mm

  • Ah right, thought you would be trying to get the stack up, Pinocchio is nice.

  • Those rimzzz

  • Looks ace.
Any possible way you'd have clearance for these?

  • They’re pretty cool - do you think v brakes would work on the bike ok ? gives me more options than just cantilever brakes.
Just won a cheap 120 mm itm ecylpse stem so need some 44cc 26 clamp bars

  • do you think v brakes would work on the bike ok ?

I seriously doubt they will clear 2.35" tyres. Plus the pull ratio of your road levers is different. Stick to cantis.

  • If the V arm is short are they not designed to work with road pull levers?

  • Correct. Trp cx 8.4 and 9 are made to work with road levers, also says cyclo-cross in the details.

  • I still doubt they'd clear the tire tbh. Was trying to find something campag to tie in better with the rest of the group. Can't find any silver campag cantis.

  • Think i'll stick with the silver dia comp cantilevers. The original headset is internally messed up so need to try and fit the campag threaded.
Having a few issues with getting the crown race on though so a bit of filing is being done on the forks...
Last weigh in was around 12.5kg as pictured - the tyres weigh a kg each!

  • Are you trying to fit an ISO crown race on a JIS fork? These Couriers are odd in having ISO head tubes and JIS forks, instead of being aligned. Tripped me up also when I was looking for a replacement for mine. I take it you have the other necessary tools? Drop me a pm of not.

  • Not surprised the tires are so heavy. Once moving they will bludgeon their way down the tow path nicely.

  • Hi Joel - yes i was.
I have a proper headset press etc so can use that.
Thanks for the offer though :)
