Other priorities tbf, I’d like to but it’s really not needed

No worries! Probably bb30 and XD anyway

Secret to not being nose down in the air is to move weight back before hitting jump?
-
• #730
Compress before the lip then move weight up at the lip. Don’t pull the bars, let your weight bring the bike up with you.

• #731
Feet further back. No further. A little further still.....

Will give it a go next time.
Today was fun, much to think about. I used the dropper for the first time and it is very different, always out of the saddle, sprint-style pedalling between corners, eye's fixed on the corner exit and hoping that the bike rotates without climbing up the banking.
The surface is a lot more rooty, with a lot more broken terrain in some sections on the red route, none of it was a problem to roll over when it came to it but I did wonder what was going to happen when I saw it down the trail.

For Fuck's Sake, don't scratch the paint on that Merc. I know the owner and he's a bit precious...

Also mountain bikes are legally required to be more expensive than the car they are transported in.

Don't give him ideas.

What flat pedals do people like?

DMR Vault Brendogs. End of discussion.
They use extra gnarly motocross pins that have a head like a Philips screwdriver bit almost.
Couple these with a pair of Five Ten flats and you'll have the best there is. -
• #742
I just want a decent pair to dick around with- M828’s?
-
• #743
Just get the Brendogs. Negligible price difference. Lighter. Best flat pedals on the market I'd wager.
-
• #744
then get the superstar ones!
-
• #745
They're only flat pedals, there's not really much variation. Just pick any old thing and it'll be fine. They're cheap, they work on any bike (so you can always swap/sell them), they basically never fail (within reason), and they all look and work the same way excepting slightly different grippiness and weight. Pick based on some arbitrary criteria like colour match or something.

Not quite correct
-
• #747
Clarify?
When I'm riding I never even think about my pedals. Except which cleats I need and when I ride some really crap pinless flat commuter things in normal shoes in the wet and don't have any grip.

Are you mountain biking?

Ride DMR V8s back to back with the new Brendog ones down any kind of trail and see if you agree.

Yes but admittedly with SPDs most of the time. Not really into the whole DH thing where maybe you need ultra grippy flats.
I would still argue that for pissing about in the woods you can't go massively wrong with any flats with pins above a certain price threshold - and if you do, you can just buy some different ones as they aren't massively expensive - but humbly defer to you folks who know more about it than me
edit: I wasn't going to comment given other people are more informed but the uncertainty went on for too long. should just keep a lid on it

Did you of all people just say
you can just buy some different ones as they aren't massively expensive
How things change!
You going to be changing the group?
