  • Anyone know if Fox will service a shock pump that's a few years old, and outside of warranty?

    Probably not.
The digital Fox and Rockshox pumps are identical oem items. They are identical to the Lifelines digital pump.

Only difference is the fox ones are £100 and £35 for Lifelines.

  • Helm mk2 Coil - really like this fork, fiddled with the damping a little when I got it and now it's in the "recommended by Pete" box

    ;-)

  • Now that I've said that, the new frame will be awful

  • Soz

  • I admit to not relying exclusively on your review for my decision.

  • I am mildly terrified of the speed and terrain I am going to have to combine to justify the new bike.

  • 15mph at Swinley shouldn't be too bad

  • I'm only envious

  • It's only got 45mm more travel than my old Scalpel, after all.

  • £235 duty and VAT payment required by DHL on the fork.

  • Ouch

  • Fork was €1341.50, which using Google FX says £1134.12, so £1,369 total.

How much have you seen them for sale for in the UK?

  • Also, ouch.

  • How much have you seen them for sale for in the UK?

Can't recall exactly, but they were about £1,400 so you've not lost anything really

  • Commencal was the only place in Europe that I could find some for sale, so it wasn’t through choice.

  • Having a quick look, it appears everywhere else has them on backorder

Either very few have been made, or the Surrey Hills will be ( even more ) full of Ohlins this year

  • Now hurry up and post photos of it on the scales

  • I ordered full XTR on the 295, but due to supply chain issues there were no XTR cranks available.

Pace supplied an XTR ring with XT cranks arms, and I rode that until the XTR cranks came in.

However, the XTR crank arms are closer together than the XT ones, and they didn't clear the chain stays enough - they rubbed the rubber chain-slap protector under heavy load.

I swapped back to the XT arms, and had to pop into a shop to borrow their vice to get the ring lock-ring on and off. I noticed that the lock ring said "XTR only" and the other one said "XT and SLX only".

They bike shop clearly DGAF and fitted the XTR one to the XT cranks.

I'm going to put the XTR crank arms that I couldn't use on the 295 on the Madonna, with a newly purchased XTR ring. Will the bike explode if I use the "XT and SLX only" lock ring?

If so, I'll get the XTR one off the 295 and swap it over.

  • The XTR lockring can be fitted to XT and SLX cranks, but the XT/SLX one can't be fitted to an XTR crank

  • I wonder why? I couldn't see any reason, but I guess I should swap them over.

  • Maybe people would laugh at you for having a pauper's lockring on your XTR equipped bike and Shimano want to save you from that trauma?

  • It's rather hard to see it, I'm uncertain that that would be a significant issue.
