What have I forgotten?

Are you really going for xx1 axs over gx axs? Even for the shifter?!
I must protest. -
• #6129
What have I forgotten?
Safety pizza?
I think you've probably built enough bikes now to not miss anything
-
• #6130
Too late, done now.
-
• #6131
Ah! The dangle mug and artisanal flannel shirt.
-
• #6132
If it's not too personal a question, is your helmet peak large enough for this bike?

Swinley Edition RAAW spotted:

• #6134
Dedicated short seatpost and DH saddle angle too
Will you be getting the standard jersey or the full GB version?
-
• #6135
The jersey, although promising, is I feel a little unpatriotic, so mine will have an integral cape which will feature both the Union flag and the faces of the Queen and Princess Diana, the Peoples Princess.

No poppy? For shame, sir.

Get an Ibis!
I faffed around for the entire of 2020 ended up building a ripmo v2, X2, pike ultimates*, XT12, and some nice bits but not too wild, thought about carbon rims, then decided to put that £1500 saving (trade price!!!) into going places to ride instead. When I case, I case, no amount of 'unbreakable carbon rim' will stay unbroken with my luck lol.OK so it does EVERYTHING I WANT. Except, fork is a tiny bit short to achieve 'perfect' geometry IMO. *RS in their wisdom decided that for 2021 new Pike ultimate with the new air spring job would only come in 150mm in 29er, and not 160mm that the frame is designed for.
Putting a Lyrik or Zeb in 160mm 29er at the front would turn it from what I wanted (an 'all mountain trail+' into an 'enduro light bounce monster', yes I've made up these categories). Everything else I'm happy with, maybe would have sized up, i'm 5'10 on a good day, got a medium, kinda wish I went for a large, but it was 6 months longer wait.
If your in central scotland can borrow mine for a bit if you want, barely get time to actually ride these days. But does what I want it too, goes around tamer trails without being boring, feels lively, actually climbs, nimble enough on technical climbs and bouncing about, slightly dull on lower speed trails, gets in the zone on faster stuff, and stops me from dying on stuff thats above my pay grade.
Fox X2 with the VVC is perfect, literally love it. Fox forks never that bothered about them, service parts are way overpriced and impossible to get once its more than about 3 years old so went RS.
Only other thing I thought about was the Druid (Forgotten bikes, can't remember their name?) with the high idler, but they had such a backlog they weren't giving out estimates anymore when I was in the process of.

That’s the helmet design.
-
• #6139
I happen to have a 150mm Lyrik that doesn’t have a purpose currently…
-
• #6140
What sort of price and how much steerer?
-
• #6141
I cut it 30mm above the stem, so head tube of an XL Pace 295, plus Hope headset, plus Pace stem, plus 30mm = steerer. Probably 210mm?
It’s got a Vorsprung Secus fitted, also. I was thinking £600.

Tempting.

• #6143
Double down or Exo/Exo+ with inserts?
Or DD and inserts?
-
• #6144
Depends on how clumsy you intend to be
-
• #6145
do you want to sell the secus?
-
• #6146
How clumsy was Dogs being when he tore his tyre?

do you want to sell the secus?
No, too much of a pain to remove from the fork. TBH it's not a bad outcome to keep the Lyrik as a spare, so I won't be upset if no one takes it.
On the subject of suspension, Rockshox should stop selling the SDU without the bigger negative chamber in my view (but my view is highly coloured by riding a bike with no progression in the kinematic of the linkage).

2018 - 'I have no idea what I'm doing'
2022 - 'Rockshox are building their suspension incorrectly'

It's all about progression.
Yeah this is actually quite annoying.
It’s why I run a qr seat collar, in some scenarios I still have to shift the post up and down.
If it’s set for optimal pedalling height, when it’s fully dropped, it’s still a little bit in the way when things get steep.
When it’s slammed to it’s lowest, then it’s not high enough for pedalling.
Ridiculous to have a wireless dropper and still be stopping to undo the seat collar.
