  • I don't come to this thread to look at the cost of things ;-)

  • Less obsessive measuring of the sag would be preferable

What I was interested in was not sag, it was how often I was using all the travel.

Anyway, I've taken it off due to Internet bullying.

  • I have 130, 170 and 200mm travel bikes.
The 170 bike has become my primary bike.
I found that when I’d take the short travel bike out, I was always wishing that I’d took the 170 bike. Sure it’s a bit more of a slog on the climbs but it just feels better in every other way.

Of course, it all depends on where you’re riding and personal preference etc
My thought was having both short and long travel was the ideal solution but in reality the 130 bike feels pointless.

  • You do live nearer to actual downhill trails than I do, I would point out.

This MBR reviewer says that they can't think of a single reason to get the Druid over the Dreadnaught.

  • Tough love can often be mistaken for bullying

  • Aye, you’re not wrong.

The frameset price for the Druid is wild. But I suppose the same is said for the rest of the big names.

When I wanted a Druid the frameset was £3200. I ended up buying a complete bike in the sale for another £300.

  • It's certainly not cheap.

  • I could recoup a huge amount of money by selling the brakes of course.

  • Only if you sell them pre-bled

  • The Shimano that come on the bike, I'd swap Magura on, because reasons.

  • You do live nearer to actual downhill trails than I do, I would point out.

    Point taken.
But even on my very local trails at Cambusbarron, a 12 to 15 mile loop that is a long slog to the top, I still prefer it.
But I appreciate it’s different for you southern softies.

Something at 150ish like the Bronson might be the sweet spot. Get one demo’d if you can?

I feel like all I do is recommend SC bikes though, would be nice to try something different.

  • This MBR reviewer says that they can't think of a single reason to get the Druid over the Dreadnaught.

    Yeah that’s not surprising.

Can you get a demo of a Forbidden bike?

  • I could give Brink a ring tomorrow. Can’t think of any other resellers

  • As balance for the "is more travel better" argument, I know of at least two people racing enduro fairly competitively on Nukeproof Reactors, one of which is his girlfriend's

  • And he mulleted it and didn't die

  • I'm sold on the mullet idea.

  • Pole stamina another option perhaps?
    Long slack and mulletable.

  • I love the look of the cnc bikes but I can't get past the bonded part though. I love to hate Pole really.

Maybe Neil should be looking at something more boutique?
The ActoFive P-train is pretty but also glued together.

I hate steel full sus mtb's but Zoceli bikes are cool. They have shamelessly taken(stolen?) a Santa Cruz design and made it from steel.

Antidote Carbonjack I can never tell if its really ugly or not?

I now realise mullet situation is probably a deal breaker in all of these :(

  • There’s also a “fuck I’ve broken [part of the bike] and I’m in Morzine, can I get a replacement?” factor to be considering.

Anyway, I just ordered the Dreadnaught with a Push coil shock.

  • Actual lol

  • Holy fuck

  • Push coil shock

    hope this is a joke

edit - I know it probably isn't. What drove you away from the EXT?

  • If you smash your bike in Morzine, it's likely you won't be able to ride anything for a good while

  • I love this thread

  • Confident in the face of adversity, the Dreadnought is a bike quite unlike any other before it. Ziggy Link compatible, dual crown ready and open to interpretation, dream building a Dreadnought knows no bounds and neither does it.

Dual crown compatible, you need to order a set of Boxxers for dh mode in the alps now.
Did you order the Ziggy link too?
