  • As in Jammy? Bizarrely blocked from his insta, ah well! Top lads.

  • Don't know him as that. The Ginja Ninja perhaps

  • No, that's the other one

  • Literally another Andy Matthew who’s ginger too?

  • Soon

  • The 500, 550 and 500-610 progressive are all available for borrowing, should people want to do so (and a set of Ohlins 911 track car springs should anyone hold that interest as well).

  • Bit more progress at lunchtime.

  • Mega. Look forward to seeing it!

  • Happily* riding uphill today and suddenly things were arriving by my ankle. What was going on?!

Ah! Of course - my super expensive POC dungarees had suffered a permanent and fatal pocket lining failure and had dumped my multitool and extension down my trouser leg.

Still, glass half full - the elasticated ankle had stopped them spilling out onto the road.

    *This is A Lie

  • Might be misunderstanding but do you carry a multi tool in your trouser pocket when riding? That would scare the crap out of me in the event of a big smash!

    Van set-up looks dreamy.

  • One of these:

Which I don't find particularly intimidating due to the lack of sharp, pointy bits.

  • You were bowling along fine getting that semi slick going in the gloop!

  • Small wheel obtained

  • In Mullet configuration the bike is 198cm, stem to stern, 2m as a 29er.

  • Pedal is 5mm closer to the ground, but I'm very suspicious of my accuracy in taking that measurement.

  • The brake rotor is dragging, which is easy to resolve but also annoying as you'd hope that two different DT Swiss hubs would put the rotor in the same place, but there you go.

I'll fix that tomorrow and then ride it on Saturday (as long as my lateral flow test is a negative).

Interested to see what its like - the bike was designed as a mullet, but then released as a 29er.

  • Shorter, lower, slacker. Looks like it's gonna be fun!

  • Obviously I made a number of changes at once, which is what you're recommended to do in order to work out what did what. Erm, hang on. Anyway - managed to fit in a quick ride today and I like it, ride feels very similar in a straight line but it'll pop the front wheel up more easily than before, but it definitely does seem to be more keen to turn when you're really tipping the bike over.

  • New spring - 550 to 670. I'll try with more compression damping, felt nicely springy, didn't feel like I was bottoming it out, but I clearly did.

  • You bottomed out at Swinley????

  • Bottomed out way more than Steve Peat.

  • You bottomed out at Swinley????

I suspect Red 25, and it's sequence of high speed jump-to-flat features.

I had a chat with J-Tech suspension and their opinion is that this Fox damper has very little compression damping and needs re-valving to provide a lot more, which I might get done over the winter.
