I've got the bike in the stand at the moment, doing a lever-bleed or quick bleed as Magura calls it.
This is basically where you have the bike in the stand angled so that there is a steady rise between calliper and lever, with a syringe stuck in the lever bleed port.
The syringe has a plunger in it that you use to apply a slight vacuum to the system.
With the plunger out my wheel spins freely, stopping only when the friction of the free hub stops it, lever in - pads drag on the rotor. The rotor is aligned with the centre of the slot in the calliper, but I can see the pistons on one side are slightly further out than the others, so I'll move the body of the calliper slightly to account for this.

Try rebalancing the pistons rather than moving the caliper

That’s absolutely what I should do, but I’m feeling very lazy. Which is why I’ve not done anything tonight and will return to it tomorrow when I’m more motivated.

Well, I got a lot of air out but it's still not where I'd want it. I'll ride it (hopefully) this weekend and then bleed it again.

Riddle me this?

Hard to tell but it looks like two diagonally opposite pistons aren't moving, while two are, and it's twisting the rotor. Lube 'em up and reset them?

I suspect it’s related to the leaking master cylinder visible in the video, but you never know.

I refer to my previous post. This thread is fucking excruciating but compulsive viewing.

Genuinely I’d rather it was about your adventures mountain biking rather than dammit’s woes fettling

I’d rather be riding, but life is what it is.
Personally I’m glad I’ve found something definitely wrong - the leaking master cylinder explains why the system couldn’t be bled, and the pistons were behaving oddly.

When are you next coming to FOD?
-
• #5366
Not sure, availability of fuel (or lack thereof) has thrown a bit of a spanner into my plans to head West for some riding
-
• #5367
If it helps, there is plenty of fuel and no queues out West (in Bristol at least)

The bike shop bled the rear brake the other day and didn’t notice the master cylinder was leaking?

Magura’s gonna magura

They did spot that the lever was leaking, but thought it was the olive. I would have expected them to notice the master cylinder, but then I'd also expect them not to chip the paint off the clamp so badly, but c'est la vie.

Ya don't say...
Rear is back, close but not what it was
