  • Y U LEEK?!

Brand new 1x remote, new bleed kit, fluid comes out of the hose/remote junction when you operate the lever. Arse.

  • Y U LEEK?!

    Because Magura.

Did nobody tell you RS is only compatible with SRAM shifters and brakes?

  • Hydraulic remotes are the worst

  • Two wrongs don't make a right.

  • Front mudguard on the 295 has split, which is rather disappointing. What’s hot in the world of Lyrik mudguards?

  • RRP do nice ones if your fork has direct mount holes?

  • It's a Lyrik, doesn't look to be compatible.

In other news, todays lunch-break was fun (fun fact, the Brockwell Park pump-track is fenced off on one side, but open on the other so you can literally stroll in).

  • Holy ****. I've been off that drop a few times on my DH bike. Once I overshot it to flat and used every inch of the bike's travel (the only time I bottomed it out). Doing it on a CX bike is beyond my comprehension. Great photo.

  • Hydraulic dropper remote can’t be made to work so I’m going to replace with a cable.

  • Rat Race sorted my hoses out.

  • Just rode the 295 and the PBJ back to back, the twin piston rear brake on the PBJ is way better than the four piston on the 295. This is sub-optimal. Pull the pads out and sand them, clean the rotor - or just squirt water on the calliper and do some heavy stops when I'm back in the woods?

  • pads need bedding in?
I always roll down a big hill dragging the brake slightly, then squirt a water bottle on them at the bottom.
    repeat a couple of times.

  • These are the pads and rotors that have been in for ages, they always suck after I clean the bike and I’ve been cleaning it after every ride recently.

  • Rear brake won’t lock the wheel currently.

Just wondering if I’ve glazed the pads, and if so it’s sandpaper time, or if as you say getting some heat in them (maybe with some water added) will sort it.

  • On a different note, my Reverb is notably faster as it warms up (I bought the bike into the flat from outside).

  • This is gorgeous, I've missed loads here, did I misunderstand when I thought you were getting a bouncy bouncy Pace? Have you bought a flannel shirt and beer holster to complement this excellent move into hardtail?

  • I have an RC295 and an RC529 (and a PBJ).

Interestingly Pace asked (on their Facebook group) whether there would be interest in a new, square tubed homage to the original RC100 last night, which has got a lot of people very excited.

  • 😂

Excellent choices! They look like great bikes!

  • mine was very slow in the minus 1 degree temps of Leith Hill on Sunday. It needed persuading (pulling up) to move anywhere when it was fully compressed and then only rose slowly to halfway and i had to nudge it and push the remote button again to get it to slowly rise again.

  • I thought it was slow because it was leaking, but I topped it up and bled it earlier today, and have cycled the lever repeatedly since and it's refusing to leak.

I've got an entire Wolf Tooth cable replacement system, but I'll hold off fitting that if the hydraulic 1x remote is going to work.

  • On a different note, my Reverb is notably faster as it warms up (I bought the bike into the flat from outside).

You clearly need an electrically-heated Reverb sleeve for cold weather.

  • (I have sanded all eight pads and refitted them).

  • My quite old reverb doesn't go all the way up if it's cold

  • Just fitted some VHS tape, it’s definitely better than the flat rubber sheet that was there from new, interested to see how it works.
