That Marin is mind-blowingly good. Kool Stop Eagle pads? Your commuter is lovely too!

Looks great!
How do you like those tyres? -

Love the commuter!

That's fantastic!!

Thanks everyone!
@MisterMikkel I actually really like them. They feel supple and fast and I haven't had a puncture in the year I've been using them. Then again, I haven't had any other 26 inch balloon slicks so it's not like I have a point of reference. -

Thanks for the reply - pretty much confirms what I've heard head elsewhere.
Are they the folding version or wire bead? -

This is a great commuter

Last winter I bought a poorly resprayed batavus professional slx. I bought it mostly for the super record parts on it and because it was cheap. I initially wanted to sell the frame but recently I realised that I was missing a simple and cheap lock-up pub bike for summer. So I built it up with some nice-ish unused parts from the parts bin - saddle with ti rails, magnesium flat pedals, mavic front hub, 3ttt downhill riser bars. It comes in at a reasonable 8.9kg, almost cost me nothing and is a lof of fun with the apinny 42/16 gearing.

Thanks everyone! Just finished another project this weekend. I got this humble Bianchi Rekord 910 from one of my mom’s co-workers who cleared out her basement. Before pic:

I cleaned all the parts with soapy water, treated the frame with paint cleaner and sealing, polished the chrome and some aluminium bits and put it all back together. I only changed the saddle, tyres and chain. Other than that it’s all in original condition.

All thanks to the magic of paint cleaner and metal polish :) I even managed to buff out the large scratch on the nds fork blade (visible on the before picture).

Thinking about putting the mechanical cycloometer on the batavus... yay or nay?

I'm still collecting C-Record (mostly first gen) parts for the build.
I already have:- First Gen Rear Mech: unfortunately the 1st gen proprietary hanger bolt is missing. So I'll have to keep searching or mill one of the more common second gen bolts.
- First Gen Cranks: Got them for free because the crank arm bolt threads are stripped so I won't be able to take it off once it's in place. I'll probably use a cartridge BB rather than the original ball bearing BB that I already have.
- Cobalto Brakes
- 25mm C-Record Seatpost
- Front Mech, 2nd gen from what I can gather.
- Wheelset: low flange C-Record Hubs with 7 Speed freewheel, silver polished Campa Lambda Rims and Gumwall/Green Vittoria Tyres.... Mmmmhh :)
- Cinelli 1R Stem & Bars
- Selle Italia Turbo Special in White
- 7 Speed Syncro Shifters
I'm still looking for the above mentioned rear mech bolt (or any ideas and/or other options). And I'm looking for a pair of first gen C-Record Brake levers without the QR but I might just use the Chorus one I have atm. The Headset is also Chorus and I'll probably leave that on for now.
I'll post some pics soon :)
- First Gen Rear Mech: unfortunately the 1st gen proprietary hanger bolt is missing. So I'll have to keep searching or mill one of the more common second gen bolts.
My commuter is now sporting a 1X10 setup with a right-hand ultegra 10 sti, gutted left hand 105 sti. 9-speed xt derailleur and a n/w chainring.
