Been there. They're really big stones.
My favourite though is Castlerigg, I went on a cold misty day and I felt like I'd gone back in time and a bunch of Celts might pop out from behind a rock at any moment

Was driving home from Scotland this weekend, stopped in N Yorks overnight, rejoined the A1 at Boroughbridge near Ripon. Happened to spy the three 'Devil's Arrows' from the road, stunning! Amazing. Since read there used to be four of them but some time in the 19th century someone decided to destroy one in search of treasure. Twats.

Fantastic thread. My favourite is one I grew up a short ride along the Ridgeway from.
Barrow not stone circle but a few of the stones at the entrance are pretty hench. So random having a barrow you can just walk into!
