  • Keep it a bit more practical with Jones Loop or H-bar?

Can do a poor mans with bar ends and Humpert Climber bars.

  • this looks awesome, and a total bargain.

  • maybe if they came in silver, I think something with a bit of rise and a bit of sweep swill do me fine. edit: have found these though, but wouldn't work with single bolt quill.

  • Yes, I can't believe nobody else bidded on it. It has endless mounts, is lightweight and in great condition. Most my bikes are 'beaters, so it will be nice to have a pretty bike.

  • Looks fantastic! Following this.

Good thing you're keeping the colour as is.

Did you already try to mount brakes on it? I am building something similar (British touring bike) but it seems I need 27" wheels for it. Long reach calipers couldn't solve the problem.

  • not yet. i don't have any. Will measure canti bosses this evening and decide which direction to take. . I think i may go with cantis as it would be a shame to make the hanger redundant.

  • Still need to think about gears. Included with frames was a campy 10 speed front derailleur, which I don't know if it is double or triple. My 1x10 road which is 42x12-28 I think, feels ever so slightly under geared in the smallest sprocket so I think if i aim for a similar possibly wider ratio, with bigger tyres and heavier bike, this should work.
    So, I was thinking
    -ten speed (cheaper)
-medium rear mech (silver - campagnolo?)
    -11-30something cassette
-1x for now, are 5 bolt silver nw available? Have got silver 5700 cranks and bb
    -paul thubmie style shifter.

  • If you're going flat bar are you going to use v brakes?
    Looks great btw

  • Haven't completely decided. Stopping is important so I need to give it some though. Cheap mini v are ugly so not the. I have always wanted a pair of xtr grey v brakes but don't know if they suit the frame.

  • That's what I was going to say - full size vs are way better than mini vs and will work well with flat bars. Plus they actually stop you without loads of faffing, so better than cantis in two ways.

  • Neo-Retro-Gravé-Touring-CRW

(Don’t buy these tyres, complete shite, shredded the rear after 30 miles of new forest rad riding)

I had some XT parallelogram V brakes but they wouldn’t fit due to narrow spacing of bosses - used current alivio instead which have less “pad stack” and work really well (better than the XT would have)

  • Was thinking gravel kings as I like the darker tan wall and they’re appropriately named I guess. I’ll take a look at Alvio Vs. Your build definitely has inspired me ! What are the wheels ?

  • I’ve had a lot more luck with my gravel kings! The front wheel is a shimano dynamo and rear is deore, both prebuilt on A319. Big fan of the rims and the shimano dynamo seems great for the money .

  • What pedals are they? Look surprisingly good on those cranks, in silver

  • DMR V12 innit

  • picked up some north road swept back bars which will be paired with itm ecylpse before I think about paying for bull moose. Watching a few pairs of wheels on eBay, which will be the next step

  • mock up with the bars, there's loads of sweep on them but should be suitable for the mean time and were cheap so don't mind replacing them (ignore old grips). chucked my road wheels on but definitely think something like tm's above will look nicer, 28x 32x lacing. Picked up 105 cranks on eBay for £15 years back and have never used them so on look out for 110bcd to match them.

  • I really, really like the paint job.

One massive benefit of the bullmoose is they’re just so much stiffer than a regular quill setup - front end feels loads better with them, much especially when loaded.

  • Not got any parts for this yet . Bought a gt 700c frame of the forum today. I don’t want to build up the 531 in beater spec so plan is to build up gt for simmilar use, whilst I save some money for for 531.

  • Good idea! Keep this for best. It's not too rangey looking which a lot of tourers can do, I wonder if originally it was audax styled frame.

  • This is the same model I Believe

  • excited to see how this comes along!

  • Big-clearance 700c retro GTs are super cool, I'm jealous. There was one posted on here before with pink bar tape that looked great.
