  • Right then... Comfort is king. Question is, G-One or Gravelking slicks in 700 x 38 flavours, or other tyres to consider? This might also make me rethink my 650b x 38 GK slicks for something bigger and with a little more bite of looser ground, WTB Resolutes to maintain the tan/brown sidewall look?

  • G one speed

  • I assume as a 650b option in 40mm flavour?

  • 50mm if 650b!

Thats what I am going to do when my horizons die.

  • 50mm!!!

  • you'd love them, I promise.

  • Assume no clearance issues on the Carbonda. Hmmmm... Something to ponder while I'm away

You want these? I haven’t used them and won’t be soon

  • Tempting, though I was thinking about giving the Byways a good.

  • Yeah but 60 quid vs 25

  • It does when you go fast enough

  • so I'll never know

  • How's the horizon for cycling on say the river path from Putney to Kew which can get a bit sloppy as well as Richmond Park and Epping and the like? Nothing too gnarly

  • No idea, haven’t used em :)

  • And here's the inspiration for the bike:

Lady on the street asked me if I got the cap to match the bike. I tried to explain to here that I got the bike to match the cap.

  • Almost got it correct

  • 50mm if 650b!

website suggest this won't fit? New gravel bike will take 47c Max. Am I missing something? probably.

  • It'll fit, I'll post pics with horizons

  • Trying to fit rotors onto the 650b wheelset with Hope RS4 hubs. The lockring is the cassette tool type to lock in down. However, my old cassette tool is impeded by the axle so can't torque down the rotors.
Is there another tool that would do the the job or do I need to get a different lockring, and if so which?

  • Seems the lip get's in the way of the cassette too going any further to lock down the rotor. Thoughts?

  • Thru axles need a different lock ring. Didn’t come with the hubs?

  • The ones that came with the hubs has a different fitment to lock it. When I tested this, it was uncomfortably close to the forks. The gap was paper thin whereas the one I tried is lower profile

  • AliEx specials for no other reason that it's carbon

  • It's taken a while, but almost got the bike set up for more off-road-ish adventures. Went with WTB Resolutes. Was debating between these are the Byways which I seriously considered for the extra plumpness of ride. However, I went for these just to give me some more grip on sludgy stuff that I'm sure to encounter now that the dry summer of '18 is behind us.

And here they are, finally mounted. Surprisingly not nearly as much swearing as getting the GravelKings on the rims, not beads of sweat to boot. So far, after a few mishaps, it's holding air nicely.
