Refit hose to brakes & bleed & fit
Buy handlebar and fitfor those of you paying attention, yes I was going to fit the Middleburn but try as I might I could not release the seized pedal spindle sad face

Also finally finished rebuilding my Weigh 531 roadie...

Best 26er frame I ever rode those 853 Inbreds. Bugger for chainsuck though when running geared 2 x

Finally finished....
front caliper seems to be sticking a bit
may need a larger rear sprocket for, ahem, fitness reasons

love that.

Shakedown ride!

Nice & muddy. Front brake still needs fine tuning

Is that a PACE fork? Love this bike.
-
• #38
No it's an On-One fork. I beleive the ride can be described as "compliant" ;) PS thanks for your kind words!

Just for my vague interest, I weighed this at 10.8kg. Is this good / bad / indifferent? I have no idea, not that it ever set out to be a weight weenie build

I think it's the lighter end of heft. https://www.mountainbikereport.com/mountain-bike-weight/ taa daa! so It's in the right area, I actually love the simplicity which in turn adds to its looks, it's a great project.

Thanks. Just bled the front brake again which seems to have improved matters

Also just weighed my 26" Orbea hardtail which is an alu xc frame, decent Shimano wheelset, 1x XT group and a Fox suspension fork and that is 11kg dead - but I think that's more a case of that being on the light side rather than the Inbred being heavy

Guess which fat fuck bought this? Only took 3 years...
Debut dirt today on the GrInbred...
Needs the front skewer on the other side or maybe a bolt axle - I can't be having drive side skewers and a smaller seat-clamp so the QR doesn't rub my leg. Maybe I'll just get a standard bolt jobbie. The wide bars feel cray cray so will take a bit of getting used to. It's hella light compared to the Kona (1kg tyres will do that to a bike though).

Glad to see it getting ridden

I had 3 of those 853 down the years. Best 26er steel hardtail I rode. Only sold the last one because of 29ers
There were only ever 250 geared and 250 singlespeed made. The geared were killed by chainsuck.
Edit - see I said the same thing 2 years ago. Lols

Really? Didn't know they make so few.
Need to play with the brakes a bit. The rear is a bit pish so I might just wear these pads out and then hit 'em with something fresh.

One of the early inbreds was 853, but this was a special run, maybw 10 year anniversary
Powdercoat was £40 at my local industrial estate powdercoaters, seems like a decent enough job although they didn't have a massive range of colours.
From memory I think the geo is the same. No idea re. weight, I will try to weigh it before building up
