  • No bud, basically following the canal network...

  • Do it over 3 days:
    London > Reading
    Reading > Devizes
    Devizes > Bath > Bristol
You will enjoy it heaps more.
38c front 35c back on our fixed was okay.

You will get sick of the bumpy (sometime muddy) path but you can divert out over quiet roads.

  • +1 for this, what I did. but you'd need tires with good tread in the current conditions imho

  • Exactly. The NCN is your friend.

  • It's a total bog-fest down on the section to the East of Devises at the moment. Personally I would stick to route 4 and avoid the canal path for this bit

  • This is a nice route that I've done once to Bristol and once to Hungerford then diverting up to Highworth, all quiet roads after Reading / Woking area. Goes down into Bath after the ruinous Brassknocker hill.

  • @jammy @Doug_91 thanks for the advice both, the way it's looking we'll have to divert onto the NCN at points - don't want it to be a complete slog of a ride!
