What’s going on in the second picture?

Sam is squarering off the faceplate- and steerer tubes. This is normally done on a lathe, but Sam's lathe is inconveniently not working so it is done on the mill for this batch. Results are the same tho, just a tad slower.

How wide are the bar clamps? That one finished one looked pretty big, was that standard or a request?

I can't remember. But it relates to the adjacent tube. So if it is 1 1/8" clamp will be wider to fit four clamp bolts.

Aha. So with two bolts should be normal faceplate width?
