So I went back to fixed last night on a fast out 'n' back main road course but only managed 27:17. I was really hoping to break 27 mins grrrrrrrr. Will try again on Weds (hopefully with speedo), then got my club handicap 10 the week after. Not really sure how it works.
I was considering dropping a tooth on the rear, because it felt too easy on my legs and lungs last night, but I clearly wasn't going fast enough.
I also think I'll lower my cockpit a bit. I was concentrating on dropping my head so I could feel the air rush over the back of my neck. No idea if that's good or not, but I did realise after about 3 miles that I'd not done my jersey up properly and the neck was flopping about everywhere.

hopefully with speedo
I think a well-fitting jersey and shorts is faster. And Speedos have no arse padding.

...but only managed...
You still learned something though: "it felt too easy". ;)
You've got UT cranks, right? I've got some Campag rings gathering dust. If you're running 3/32", UT don't need modding: La Tstr tweaked them for 1 1/8".

No, no, no. You’re testing all wrong. As a time triallist, you don’t push harder; you drive halfway across the country for a faster course.
Which club did you join?

Cheers. I'm on Rival cranks ATM. Next season when I get my rear disc (it's halfway here) I'll need a 42mm chainline so will get some "proper" track cranks or use square taper 740x cranks or something.

Haha. Bury Clarion.
In my SB run the other week I did get a 30 second draft off a tractor which was a godsend.

You were slower than a tractor?

DNS tonight because it was cancelled due to roadworks but I didn't know. I basically drove to the other side of Manchester, had a wee in a field and drove home.
Next week I'll have proper extensions on, a 16t cog and a speedometer - plus the course is pretty fast. The stars are aligning for a damp squib of a run.

cancelled due to roadworks
Pretty sure the highway authorities check the TT timetable to ensure maximum disruption.

'proper extensions'
good luck!

I had to stop to have a wee on the way home too, but in the woods. Because age.

Haha! I also got some 3T ones coming off TTF (sorry for joining). I'll post a thrilling end-of-season summary of all this shite very soon darlings.

I did this too, apart from the wee in a field. I then drove halfway to Chelford before binning it off and heading home due to the weather.

• #243
Oh yeah, that bit was also fun. Is there some thing about atmospheric pressure affecting times?
-
• #244
Lower the better. Fewer molecules to push out the way. But I'm not sure at what point it's low enough to make a noticeable difference in a tt. For reference, last night was 1001mbar and for Wiggin's hour record attempt, where everyone said the air pressure was "high", it was 1036mbar.

Fuck this shit. I've DNS'd again because I've fucked my neck up and can't move it. Yes it's probably more aero, but significantly limits my "seeing where the fuck I'm going" skills.
