It may partially be due to Tom following his own team car for a good minute

Missed the stage to be social with an old friend. Having not seen each other for a whole year I was certainly preoccupied wondering what I’d missed. ES time now. Shame the winner was ruined by accidental news site click.

yeah what a stupid move

There’s using the cars to get back on and then there’s taking the piss by drafting your own team car for a minute. Dumoulin did the latter, a 20 second penalty is a fairly light punishment for the crime.

• #531
taking the piss, right. better do it inconspicuously then.
-
• #532
Tom needs to remember to stop on the right side of the road
-
• #533
indeed, stupid
I thought there was a teammate giving him a wheel before the team car pulled up. anyway, this will put some pepper in his arse as the saying goes.

Windmills needs to pick his moments. Preferably when the cameras aren’t following him.
-
• #535
Just because someone else has done it, doesn't make it okay.
Fuglsang should be penalised too.

Has anyone been checking out ‘The Move’ with good ol’ LA? Go to 11:45...
-
• #537
It’s been pointed out on Twitter Dumoulin was doing about 70koh behind the car so probably gained more than 20 seconds.

• #538
like catching up with an old friend. nice.

This. Be good to see him made to do something, instead of being consistently there but not quite good enough

I didnt realise Dan's (and presumably the rest of the teams') jersey didnt have a zip on it. Just noticed it there. Must be to do away with the zip, looked kinda strange though

You mean try his luck in a bunch sprint or something? ;-) To be fair, yesterday was the first stage in which he might have, although he’s no Dan Martin or Valverde style climber.

Seems it's the latest in Lightweight/aero clothing.
Aero because the riders cannot unzip it, it seems.

fuck trying to get that off when it's all sweaty. would feel like your a foal squeezing out its maw's fanny, not to mention require disarticulating your elbows and shoulders unless you've a soigneur to do the honors.

There's a write up on it here. Basically for aero gains but i'd say it's a bitch to get on.

I, for one, look forward to the day overweight middle aged men start riding wearing these.

Missed this bit of the race

Something other than time-trialling a whole grand tour. I'm sure someone will dive in and give me 1000000 examples of him not doing just that, but it's what it feels like he does, it's not exciting

Grupetto jersey order next year.
I think so too. at least he wasn't hanging on to a sticky bottle or roofrack. bit sour to be set back that far for something literally every contender does after a mechanical/flat/crash or whatever. maybe they want to make a point or something. Looking forward to tonight's interview with Tom, I'm guessing he won't be speaking very diplomatically about it. Then again, he might.
