  • Also managed a disc mod to an old GT. Also made a new crimpage tool but forgot to take a photo

  • That is incredibly neat work.

I assume the fork tube thickness is relatively beefy at the ends?

  • That gt is very tasteful

  • Not sure what you mean but thanks

  • Owner is a mega keen @t0-ster follower and has some barnacle forks for it

  • Still some way to go but it's getting there

  • That allows for some spacer stack.
    Really neat work, as expected!
Kudos for the smiley. Is the frame gonna get the smiley bean dropouts as well?

  • No some cheaper C40 swapouts I am afraid

  • Interested to see the crimpage tool

  • Kære blog

Today I picked up my winter frame I am going to modify with UDH dropouts (and post mount brakes bosses), cutaway seat tube, my signature fish mouth seat tube top tube junction and internal cable routing.

Boy has it been blasted. Hurts a bit to see it like that.

  • Back when I did this frame I didn't "pull in" the brass and that hasn't been great. So I am going to clean up this detail and reapply some heat and pull the brass into the top tube

  • The frame really took a beating when I tacoed the fixie chainring this winter.
But luckily the tubes seems to have been untouched

  • Forgot about that today. I'll take some photos tomorrow

  • Also made a 180mm addition to my Incepti post mount fixture.
I might still remove some material to get access to the bosses but it works great and is precise

  • I really enjoy the look of a freshly blasted frame. kind of reminiscent of that textured finish on 90s Marins.

  • Does the shot blaster confirm the resultant 'blast profile',
    how deep the pitting is?

  • I am not sure what you are asking?
The people I have to work with on this are completely useless and won't have anything that resembles an answer for me. I asked them to be gentle.

I have no idea how much material is left. But it still feels sturdy

  • The fork is looking great! I really like the dropouts. Did you rebuild it with wider shoulders in the end?

Also contemplating mods on a retro frame. The blank area on that GT is that the "minimal damage" to the paint? I am wondering what can be done without having to repaint the whole frame.

  • Thanks. Will read that tonight.

  • The disc brake mount is very neat.

Forks - are they butted tubes or is it same thickness all the way down? Looks like a solid joint so doubt it’s going to do anything weird under braking.

  • Yes did some new shoulders.
Almost done with the forks now and started the rear triangle today.

You have to remove some of the paint I am afraid. But you could maybe locally powder coat or spray the frame. I always recommend not ruining bikes that works and only modding frames that will need a full repaint anyways.

  • Forks are plain guage T45 from aerocom metals. I can't remember the exact guage but I think it's 1.1 or 1.2mm. And OD is 28.6mm. The tubing is sooo mega tough yet lovely to work with.

  • Thanks very much ❤️
