  • Thx. Rear mech works flawlessly and having seen how she treats the new bike I wont upgrade it just yet ;-)
Heres a video of it shifting:

The trigger is still a bit hard work for her and I am not sure I got the right gearing for her yet. For now I just change gears for her when climbing or bombing down hills and that is way better than before when she was constantly under/overgeared. She is also just using the rear brake currently but as she gets comfy on the bike we will advance the use of the controls.

  • That's so cool, can't remember how I learned to use gears so it's interesting to witness the learning process. Is she aware of the "value" of the bike? How does she handle it?

  • She loves it sparkling in the sun and is very proud of the fact that I made it. Her mom took her to kindergarten this morning and she was apparently bragging to anyone who'd listen ☺️

But she is still only three. When she sees a fancy pine cone she drops the bike like whatever and runs to pick up the cone. We are practicing putting the bike down DS up to protect the derailleur. She gets that part.

I asked her the other day what her favourite part was and she responded "the rainbow pedals".

  • As expected, an incredible bike. Very cool.

  • But she is still only three. When she sees a fancy pine cone she drops the bike like whatever and runs to pick up the cone.

i think we could all learn so much from her about riding philosphy

  • Hahaha. Very sweet. Amazing build

  • Effortlessly cool

Have you thought about a derailleur protector?

  • I'm predicting pine cone sacks will be the next bike packing accessory

  • I’m as always really impressed with your craftmanship. Tijmens bike looks great and so does your daughters. I wish I could give this to my daughter who loves cycling and is quickly growing out of her frame and gearing. Top job!

  • For some reason I bought my son a vintage motobecane (a mini version with tiny wheels) and it had friction downtube shifters. Was his first geared bike. He learnt how to use those fine so I think they just learn and adapt to whatever they are given. The triggers being too hard to use will probably take more time to get used to and it could be that her hands are a bit small still

  • Just had a good couple of days in and around Copenhagen. Was nice revisit old roads from when I lived there in 2012.

Bring your bike if you are going. Great city to cycle around in.

I was there with students but our program offered up some opportunities to cycle around.
