Love the scalloped stem too

I have some ugly white Ritchey wcs bars i modded today. Gave them a bit of flare from 440mm CTC to 465mm. I also polished the top bit. I reckon it will look great on the Enigma with the black and silver Zipp stem and matching black and silver Woodman seat post.

Here with bartape (Salmon Jizz) I've been working on for so long, but still haven't gotten right. More on that later..

I have been toying with different ideas. Not sure if I fancy Max-ish two-way ovalising or all the way through ovalised.

Mm both have their charms. The way it ties in with the top tube seat tube junction is particularly nice :))

I prefer the second one.
Miter is very nice, reminds me of Salsa Moto.

Is that squished?

The Salsa stem is desired by so many people because of how the extension is miter cut to fit the quill. The extension is cut in the half-round shape to butt to the quill, but is cut so the tails extend around the sides of the quill rather merely joining the two pieces to the front of the quill. This adds more strength and support to the joint.

I understand what you mean now. A lot of steel stems use a bit of squeeze to make diameters fit.
So yes! The salsa stem probably has some ovalised ends
