Safety is secondary :) -

I am thinking about this. Which system would you want... Asking for a friend
Shimano Steps, fully integrated yada yada.

Safety.. Being crushed in side collision. Or issues being thrown forward when stopping hard
Side impact is hard for any vehicle to deal with, as the passenger is so close to the side of the vehicle there is minimal crumple. The kid, being in the seat that I assume has wide bolsters will fare better than the rider. But, ultimately, you are going to come off a lot worse than if you were in a Hummer.
Question is, how likely are you to be T-boned by an S80? Base your actions on that.
I reckon a simple roll over-hoop would remove any fears that the bike could fall and then invert with kiddo being squashed - with a roll-over hoop they'd just hang from their seatbelt, upside down.

Or make a backup baby in case the first one fails...

I bet it would be. But it really isn't sexy is it

I bet I can get the Shimano data/drawing somewhere and I can try and draw it onto the existing framework see how it looks.
Edit: is it OEM only?

Why Shimano over Bosch out of interest?
Don’t have a dog, just wondering.
Also that Shimano motor in the ridgeback has (I think) 50nm of torque.. you’d probably want more for cargo duties

Things may have changed, but I had heard (from a bike shop) that Bosch support was very poor, whereas Shimano is (globally) pretty reliable.

Also Shimano makes bike parts. Which I like

Not sure how long ago you’d heard that but I think it could have been the case before they joined hands with magura.
Their warranty system is good in my experience.. as long as you do things by the book (don’t tamper with the speed limits etc).
Iirc they keep stock and spares for 8 years after a product has been discontinued, which is longer than manufacturers are obliged to.
All in all I think their support is good. Haven’t dealt with them as a member of the public though

I've got a spare bit of an LED strip which I've been tempted to wire into the dynamo on one of my bikes to see if it works. I'm no good with electrics though, so the fear of damaging something has put me off thus far. The 2 Fast 2 Furious look is almost tempting enough to overcome that though.

Death before reflective strips! :)

OK. I'm bored at work. So there are a few different frame lighting options
LEDBYLITE - However no idea what it looks like in daylight. Probably not pretty.
EL Wire - Most interesting and the makers website is here. Not sure what it would look like in daylight though. Plastic tubing and zip ties most likely.

Good day for a test ride. I wish my commute was longer than 4min.
I'll do a proper test ride with my daughter this weekend if weather permits.
I still need to do the hood mount roll cage bar this and have all the metal work powder coated.
It rides like a dream.
